I manage a website with 1,000,000 pageviews per month, currently relying solely on AdSense ads through plain HTML code. However, I've noticed a decrease in my AdSense income and am considering transitioning to Google Ad Manager (GAM) to manage multiple ad networks and increase competition for my ad inventory.
From what I understand, GAM allows the integration of various demand sources, including AdSense, and enables header bidding. I believe I can keep my current AdSense setup while testing GAM.

From what I understand, GAM allows the integration of various demand sources, including AdSense, and enables header bidding. I believe I can keep my current AdSense setup while testing GAM.
Here’s my plan:
- Keep the current AdSense code unchanged.
- Create a GAM account.
- Set up ad units within GAM and obtain Google Publisher Tags (GPT) code for each unit.
- Insert the GPT script in the <head> section
- Add each ad slot in the body
- Include GPT initialization before the closing </body> tag:
Questions:
- Are my considerations accurate, or am I being naive about this process?
- Are there any well-known companies that offer support with implementing GAM alongside AdSense?
