Let's say we have 2 sites.

1. Let the domain of our site be agecalculator.com
Let's say we have an age calculator tool on our homepage.

2. Let the domain of our site be mysite.com
Let's say there are 2 tool on this site, the first one is age calculation.
2nd menstrual period calculator

Which of these sites do you think will be successful? Does Google always keep the first site ahead because it is sectoral? Or does the second site stand out more with the authority it receives from 2 different categories? If these sites were in the category of blogs instead of tool, would the result change?

Intuitively I would say that the second domain should better perform because it simply has more content.

But generally what you call sectoral works better than general, when you have low resources, but if you grow huge, then the general option could become relatively intresting, but still you will need to create some sort of segmentation within your site (but your main site will give some synergy with the other "sectoral" sub-sites.

But as I say, at a small scale, I will always choose sectoral, but in this little example, with only two calculators, due to content restriction, you should always choose the one with more content. In fact you feel they are two different segments, but the site can simply be "thecalculatorssite.com" which by itself, is a "sectoral" site, regardless the fact, the two calculators are for different topics.

I feel the second one is better. There will be more content, which means you have a chance to rank for more keywords. Also, it's easier to build authority compared to the first one.
