Keyword is a popular tourist location

local searches 1,000,000
cpc .87
competition low

The above is from Long Tail Pro software.

I am not interested in the cpc as I'm not relying on adsense etc for this site. With 1000000 searches and low competition, I'm thinking this is a good keyword? Now
the actual keyword is the name of the place. Is the competition low because of the cpc or just that the actual place is so big that it would be no use in trying to compete?
(sorry if I still sound like a noob - but - well - I am! :) )

Thanks

Check out the keyword manually by checking the current top ranked sites and their backlink profiles. If you think you can beat them you could be on a a very valuable keyword.

Ok thanks - will get on this now.

I would like to suggest you to include synonyms with that keyword,to make it long tail .Its relatively easy to rank

In LTP the last column is "advertiser competition" and that's where you will see "low", "medium" or "high"....if you are referring to that then that means a lot of advertisers are bidding on that keyword and not the ranking competition itself. Click on the keyword and you will see the keyword competition for rankings from there you can gauge it.
