Really depends on what you`re looking for.. If you`re just looking for a shared hosting, then most big companies have offers for under $5.. if you`re looking for a dedicated server, that will be costly, well over $5..

I used Bluehost for a project I did with a guy in the US, however as I am from the UK not really sure I can help you here.
