Search Console Page Indexing Issue : Duplicate, Google chose different canonical than user

Hi Guys,


So here is the more detail related about the issue:-

So, from last 3 months, around 40-50 pages are facing this issue. Even after putting the correct canonical (same page canonical) on the pages, google is still taking the homepage as the preferred version.

The content is not duplicate, all the pages have different content, but still google is considering "Homepage" as the preferred canonical version.

Can anyone please help?

What should I change.

For an example: If my page is "abc" then the canonical is already set for the same page i.e "abc"

are You using wordpress?? If yes Install Rankmath Plugin, there you will find to change canonical url of every post.
