I was reading in the "get Index In Google In Under 15 minutes" thread and there's a lot of talk about Scribd. Everybody seems otbe talking about getting those high rankings using Scribd as a parasite host coming from Word documents. How do PDFs compare to Word docs when it comes to ranking in the SERPs? Anyone have experience testing between the two?

I generally use ODF or PDR, but that's just because I'm a cheap bum and have OpenOffice on my laptop. But I did do my share of testing with WIN97 Docs.

As far as ranking goes, I've yet to see a difference or a trend that implies one format is better than the other.

As far as traffic goes, I've noticed that PDFs tend to bring more traffic to my money sites than DOCs do, but I've yet to do extensive enough testing to determine whether this holds up true all the time. My assumption is that people are used to searching and looking at PDF results, maybe not-so-much with DOCs.

Use PDF. They perfom nicely and I heard that people get better results with PDF than DOC.
Use OpenOffice to compile PDF - it's free, fast and you won't have problems with not clickable links.
