Screw Thy Neighbor Threads

Wow, talk about disconcerting.

This is one of the sickest and most disgusting posts I have seen on BHW in my short time browsing. Age discrimination is no different than racism or sexism.

My, my, you have a lot to learn if you think this way. To call me sick and disgusting because I want to protect children proves you're either under 18 and full of anti-agist angst or over 18 and just plain ignorant.

Also, this isn't just about porn or sex, it's about kids being too inexperienced to make the right choices. That's what being a kid is all about. You have laws stopping you from doing stupid shit, that's what they are there for. And to be frank, there are only rare cases of minors doing great things like technological achievements and work on social progress, and even then they are typically doing their great thing through education, under adult supervision.

What real reason does a child have to use the internet? Playing video games and using social media fuels the economy, it really does nothing good for the kid. I can understand playing against other people online, I can't understand the need for communication with them outside of the game when the kid has people in their home town. I can understand if the people they live around don't get along, but that is what being a kid is like, you have to learn how to live with people you don't like.

When I was a teenager, my friends and I started an anti-agist movement in our town. The adults were pretty stupid and had zero idea as to what we kids were capable of because we were constantly discriminated against. We lobbied the city council and got a skate park built, we set up monthly benefit concerts for various charities which pulled together kids from every walk of life and even from other towns; we even lobbied for a youth center that wasn't religiously associated, but unfortunately never got it -- the skate park was a compromise, I guess. But my point is we did it all without adults.... and without the internet.

You can too.

Furthermore, kids don't have money. Kid surfers are the antithesis of a buyer in Internet Marketing land. They really have no business being on this or any other IM forum. They might be good for CPM traffic or ringtones, but eventually they don't convert cuz they have to whine to their parents for money and the parents get sick of it and cut them off.

I know this probably sounds crazy to some people, but after all the crap that we've seen with kids on the internet, I think it may be time that kids get banned from the internet altogether. I mean, seriously, think about it: why is it 18+ to buy a porno mag but any age can access the internet? If we just made it a law that anyone under 18 was forbidden from the internet, the world would be a little bit of a better place.

There are "kids" that are making more money than you, including everyone.

So how do you decide on which kids to block? Do you want to block the next millionaire? The next big app? WORST idea I ever heard in my life. And I've heard alot of bad ideas. I didn't think even think that it was possible that anyone in our universe could have such a bad idea. There aren't enough words in the english dictionary to describe how bad that idea is.

Greg Doesnt Post a Lot, but when he does its bang on!

Black Hat Isnt About Fraud, Its about finding work arounds in a Smart Way. Couldn't have said it in a better way.

You missed the part where I said there are exceptions, but few.
He does not represent 17-year-olds everywhere.

Agree. Before the internet and the mobile worlds, there was a wonderfully real, and a very nice world for most of us when we were kids, teens, and even a bit older. After internet and mobile worlds came into existence, that beautiful world is almost forever lost for (majority of) today's real young people. A new-world niche would be a smartphone-pacifier that emits only certified n baby-safe radiation levels, feels like mother's breast, and smells and tastes like milk. Then I suppose, the human (e-)evolution process would be totally complete.

We are not fighting that kids should not be allowed at all internet. But for kids internet carries more risk as you can see below -

The fact is, you don't know everyone's situation. Some people are probably using those methods because they are desperate and need to feed their families. At the end of the day, making someone install some software or toolbar etc is pretty harmless.

what really? how about when that installation turns out to be a malware that hijacks ur browser, steals logins, and passwords!

Whats wrong is wrong irrespective of what the situation of the person doing that.

I just heard that there's an app that teaches you how to give oral sex. No joke. I looked it up. Here it is: http://lickthisapp.com/

This is somehow relevant, I swear.

I was this close to suicide by facepalming myself.

The future will be surrounded with technology, the internet is the most commonly used way to transfer information globally and instead of blocking internet access for 18 years olds we should be teaching them how to use computer after the moment they pop out of their mothers.

But how responsible are underage users? What do they even contribute to the internet? They are generally non-paying users.

I'm not saying you can't make money from them at all, but underage users are generally a nuisance online. They post inappropriate shit, they say dumb shit, they share links without even looking at them, they don't think before doing or saying anything online... They would be the perfect market if they had large bank accounts.

lol!!! Longtime back, I had a GF, during my college days, who didn't needed any app to learn anything literally! I think today's world needs to do everything copybook style....lol. Then, no apps taught us how to kiss and where to kiss :D

OK, let's all bring this thread back to the main topic of Screw thy neighbor!

That's what I mean! Kids these days have no idea how to be real without a computer. It seems to be all about looking cool online and it gets mixed in with adults and it's not realistic. I'll be honest, I don't actually stand behind my internet-kid-ban completely, I'm just saying that it's obvious kids are totally irresponsible online and have no idea what the repercussions of their actions are.

I think this is entirely on topic. There's definitely a huge influx of youngins on BHW these days. Youngins think breaking the law and screwing people over is cool. It's not. And I'm suggesting that banning kids from the internet would solve at least a large portion of the scammer problem.

It's creating a thick divide line between fraud (tinted with business jealousy) and BlackHat once for all, according to my understanding. :D

P.S.: Please don't ban the kids... I would like them to learn true BH skills too, and also differentiate between fraud and BH, and may be learn what is pure WH. And then let them decide which way they should go in short- long-time, under able mature guidance and supervision of course.

The #1 reason anyone goes to search the web is to find information... to learn about something.

It is absolutely essential that people under 18 are able to find information on the internet, while they still give a shit about things and have time to wonder about the world they live in. And the world will be a little bit of a better place when 100% of the people on the planet are able to find and share information online when they want to.

I agree!! This is the greatest thing about the internet, education.

So if I can amend my call for banning kids, maybe just limit and/or regulate their ability to communicate and create and enforce laws for adults who are responsible for them to filter their internet usage.

I'm all for education, all against child exploitation and irresponsible behavior. Maybe I sound like a statist in this respect. So be it.

So how do you decide on which kids to block?

That's actually a compliance issue. In the US, COPPA is in force, and the easiest way to comply with the act as written is to make sure nobody signs up for your service who is under the age of 13. Some countries, for example Spain and Netherlands, have more restrictive age requirements. When money changes hands you're getting into contract law, and generally contract law involving those who haven't reached the age of majority is potentially complicated, which is why stuff like Adsense is limited to those 18 and older.

In other words, because in general you can't make money online until you're 18, in general there's no compelling reason for those under 18 to be admitted to online communities about making money online.

Agreed. BHW should up their age limit to 18+. I think it's 13, but it's been a while since I signed up!

Anyway, learning is one thing, posting is another. Then again, the ceosam thread is pretty educational.
