As a matter of a fact I have not programmed anything and the chances of me doing so are slim. Not something that interests me.
My post was my opinion, you seem to be offended by it (no idea why)

Grades and other bits of paper mean fuck all if you can't actually do the job.
You also mentioned "Any job worth a shit takes months to train someone" If you need to be trained then you're not right for the job and they will see that when you're given a task to complete and they stand there with a confused look on their face. (Obviously if they offer training that's different)

Ya know, I dropped out of hs for a full-time gig at 17, got my ged and never looked back. By 19 I had already figured out how to provide myself with a better living than either of my parents, without having a boss. As for any extra education, I've figured out everything that has stood in my way without courses or classes. I really do not think college or even the last couple years of high school is needed if you're curious enough. If you're really hungry, trust me, you'll figure it out.

I slightly agree with this, but in some ways I disagree. I didn't go to college for many years after graduating from HS. I got curious and learned a lot of things about a lot of subjects on my own and at my own pace, improved my English language skills (I was born in England and moved to the US, but I'm talking more about writing and spelling). Then I decided to go to College for Computer Science. So far I've learned about Criminal Justice, US History, Music Appreciation, and improved my math and English to a scholarly level. I enjoy going to College because it makes me a good well rounded student. I'm just interested in learning, and I love being in an institution that encourages that.
 
thiel fellowship pays 20 "talented students" $100,000 a year not to go to college if you think you have what it takes to get selected. why not check it out and if you haven't already attended college and are in your early 20s or younger

I totally understand that mate. I've got a brother that has been in college for 15 years lol. He's got countless degrees and titles and I get it. Some people are born academics and that works best for them.

I suppose my previous statement did suggest that I disagree with college, but I really don't. Whatever works best for each individual. My problems with college and school are my own completely. That's just not the best learning environment for me. I'd rather sit in my office or the library by myself and for free lol.
 
You are 100% right and I share your views. For my last job I was hired based on my skills and knowledge and my positive attitude. They did not regret it, I did not regret it either and I am with the company now for close to 4 years.
Once we have more and more companies in the world, thinking this way and hire people based on their ability instead of their papers, the World will become an even better place. :)
 
Hmm the thing about college is that a lot of people are morons. If they decide to drop out "because Bill Gates", the majority of them will fail miserably. Real life is hard.

"Real coding for multibillion dollar companies". Anyone on this forum with half of a brain can tell you are full of shit. If you were in that enterprise, you would not be here, you would be there, coding.
