There are some people who can do both, but if Mark Z said 'screw college', he would have never been able to "steal" the idea of Facebook, that's where he got it.
Wow so wrong, its actually funny how you guys see the billionaire dropouts and say screw it. They dropped out after they had something going for them. Education is key, and the degree holds that value. It shows that you aren't as useless as other people on this planet.

Worldwide 2/3 of Billionaires have gone to college. In The UK its about 4/5. Most millionaires have a degree as well. Also to become a CEO one must have good grades as well, a company isn't going to hire some muppet that barely passed out of college.
Mr testyy, these people think they are in the same playing field as the 3/10000000000000000000 dropouts that make something of themselves.
Those are some good odds. But most of all, the more people who drop out, the less competition I have. So I say drop out to all of these fine fellows.

The world relies heavily on that bit of paper that says you can do this or that, it's bullshit but it is not going to change.
What happened to showing up, doing the job for a day or two and proving you have what their looking for. There are plenty of idiots who can't do the job correctly but because they have a bit of paper saying they got this grade or that grade people will hire them. The world is a strange place.
I know for one, Id hire people based on their ability to do the job, not grades.

Yea there are some billionaires who are college dropouts , but that was back then .. I believe now it is harder .. I know that everyone can come up with something and be creative but back then it was much easier ..
That's why I suggest you get a degree and then you do what you love, if it didn't work out you'll have something to work in .
I personally know 2 men from my city , they both studied biology or chemistry .. They worked a few years as teachers but now each one of them has his own big business - and I mean really BIG - more than 100$ million worth . studying at the university doesn't say that you have to work at that subject eventually for ever ..
Get a degree in case it didn't work out well

take some online courses if you are in doubt. several major colleges offer non-accredited courses that anyone can take.

Look, I despise college, but even I understand that not everyone who drops out is going to be a billionaire and not everyone who gets a degree is going to become successful. What matters is what works for you. If you do better "learning" in an environment where you can be told how and what to study, then it's probably best for you to go to college. If you're autodidactic like myself, which means that you are self-taught, then it's better for you to learn on your own than pay for free information. But the truth is the majority of people do better learning from a teacher in a classroom setting since they often do not have the drive to pursue education elsewhere. If you're one of those people who needs that setting, then stop complaining and look into alternatives (apprenticeships can be a good start).
Also, if you're one of those people who just hates school in general, then here's something for you to consider: would you want an autodidactic doctor who learnt everything he knows from various text books (having never actually practised them) or a doctor who was training by other doctors at a medical school? I know that I would want the latter.

If you can't do the job during the few days they give to you to prove you can do it, then obviously they won't be calling you back.
