What is the best software for screen recoding. I need some thing that can record HD videos smoothly. All the programs I've tried so far don't record smoothly.

Thanks...

camtasia is the market leader, have you tried that already?
if they don't record smoothly, it can mean that you have a weaker hardware, it's not necessarily the recorder program's fault

Fraps is good too but as HoNeYBiRD said, it also depends on what specs you have

Thanks for your reply. I'll take a look into it. I'm pretty sure it's not my hardware but thanks for the suggestion.

I haven't tried the video recording part, so I'm not sure if it is in HD but I've used Jing for screen shots and it's not only convenient but it's free, which is always nice!

Camtasia and Screencast-o-matic (much cheaper than camtasia, 15$ a year). they both create HD videos.

make sure you have the right screen resolution, that might be the reason your videos aren't HD.

(the video needs to stretch to the resolution you want)

Second fraps, I used to use it for gaming. If you're recording something graphically intensive, it makes pretty big files, so you might want to compress into .avi files. This one is pretty quick with converting, but there are plenty others too.

Active presenter free and awesome there is a paid version of it just haven't figured out what it does that can't be done with free version

What have you tried? I find that OSB for streaming records well as well as streams and Fraps is decent if you don't want to deal with anything to technical.

Screenflow is the best and Camtasia is #2! (both are great! )
