Is it possible / do any tools exist which i could use to scrape Google Maps Businesses for free as I am working with a really tight budget and trying to save where I can

No free tool for scraping but you can hire someone with cheap budget to fill the task for you

or hire a coder for this job

that's one way but not to easy -- google has quite strict security to stop crawlers / scrapers but many are doing so it's your hope

forgot about captcha. Would I need many proxies?

Yes you would need many proxies, even good one or you can use VPN

just abuse free trials of those online services

save your cost for powerful vps & proxy & captchas

There are some good tools but mostly paid. Also, get good proxies and captcha solving like DBC

I guess the question is how bad you want to scrape it. I haven't done this, but anything can be automated it's just a matter of its worth it. If you know Python and need it done for sure you can achieve it. You might need proxies, Google accounts, etc, but for sure it can be done. As for free the more creative you get the closer to free you can get.
