Scraping Email Lists

Hi,

I have just bought some email lists which scraped them together with a program called Email Spider Gold. I have no idea how this works, but it is either

a) Crap
or
b) Not been used properly

I was told they were dedicated lists scraped from a few sites which I recommended, but they have turned out to be the biggest pile of rubbish that I could possibly have gathered.

Any suggestions about the best way to build dedicated email lists from recommended sites ?

Please bear in mind, I know nothing about this, I just got ripped off for a few email lists so though I would investigate it myself, to see if it is actually possible. Good opportunity for someone who knows what they are doing to help me with marketing this.....
