As others have alluded I think we have to first ask why you'd like to do that?
Actually I am planning / thinking of buying scrapebox for scraping linkbuilding opportunities. I am pretty new to seo and I want to create my own strategy while using just a few tools.
For finding linkbuilding opportunities I am actually using SiteAnalyzer and crawl big abandonned websites which have an open comment section (best is when their links are "follow" because they attract al lot of people who are looking for linkbuilding opportunities).
When the crawl is finished I check the pages with the highest numbers of external links. A lot of them are authoritary pages which attract linkbuilders like corpses attrack scavengers. After that I go to the comment section of these pages and I copy all external links I find and then it gives me a list of websites I analyse with majestic. Like that I can see all these websites backlinks sources and choose the ones I could use for my own websites.
Actually it works pretty well and that way I can find easily and without efforts linkbuilding opportunities. The only difficult thing is to find the big abandonned websites. It's even harder to find some in the right theme (specialized websites give you more relevant opportunities). It's why I would like to use scrapebox and automate the research of abandonned websites. And experiment with different footprints.
My goal is to automate all that process on a dedicated machine which would work 24h/24.
I thought of renting a VPS but I'm more of a lifetime licence guy. The less I pay for monthly plans, the better I feel. And actually it looks like having a cheap dedicated machine is more profitable at long term in term of cost. (even if you take the cheapest vps out there) It's why i thought of using raspberry PI for that project.
But as
@beyeu88 said, I could just buy a cheap non ARM based computer. For example I found a 80€ mini pc in aliexpress with 4gb RAM and a 4core processor (1.96ghz) and windows 10. It's even cheaper than a rapsberry pi and could do the job actually.
I don't know if all will work as planned but why not experiment?
