Scrapebox - What's the gain? I don't get it...

If you think you can rank for medium or high competition keywords in google.com using n0follow comments you are out of your mind. You can rank with comments (and generally other shitty links) in the following cases:

1. Weak competition
2. You optimize for a local google (e.g. google.de)
3. You think you only did n0f0llow comments but in fact you happened to get a d0follow one from a high PR page.

A lot of people do SB blasts and they think n0f0llow comment links work. What I think happens is that they get a few d0f0llow links from PR pages and those boost them in the SERPs. So you build 25000 links with SB and from those 2 links are d0f0llow from PR3 pages on PR5 domains. You assume that having 25000 n0f0llow links helps when in fact 24998 links were pretty much useless. You would have ranked the same with just the 2 d0f0llow links.

PR0 d0f0llow links pass tiny amounts of link juice. PR0 n0f0llow pass nothing. They just help with indexing.

Also keep in mind that it is not just about PR when it comes to ranking. So, many people here seem to be saying its no good for blog commenting as that is not worthwhile for SEO anymore, but it is good for scraping/harvesting... Well whats the point of scraping/harvesting pages to comment on if you are not going to comment on them? What else are others doing with their scraped/harvested URLs?

What people are trying to say is that you can't just blast away thousands of links to your money site and expect to get a win-win situation out of it (though it can still happen depending on how weak/strong the keyword is). I personally use Scrapebox in conjunction with other things like AMR or outsourced senuke blasts (for tier 2-3's).

With custom footprints, you can also filter nofollow blogs out (for the non-wordpress SB'ers) or even find really targeted/high PR blogs. However I think a mixture of nofollow/d0follow is a good thing.

I have added a bunch of sites to my proxy harvester and can grab well over 500 good proxies in a relatively short amount of time (I have a fast connection and run 2 at a time). I've also been using SB for trackbacks and building AA lists.

You wont be able to direct blast 20k non-targeted blogs and expect to be #1. However, I still believe SB is a powerful tool if used wisely. It is only as powerful as the wielder, so to speak (etc etc).

Well you can for example want to buy domains from GoDaddy Auctions. So you copy the list of domains and load it in SB and check their PR.

You could also want to manually comment on high PR pages of a site you know is d0f0llow (maybe even on a platform not supported by SB, like Drupal). So you scrape all URLs in a site with site:target.com in keyword field and then you check PR of the pages of that site and order by PR and manually comment on first 5 pages that have highest PR.

And a lot of other things.
