    Hi,

A friend of mine did a scrapebox blast on 16,000 blogs. 14,000 stuck ...

My question is we used to rank 9th for a VERY competetive keyword. We now rank 11th ... it went to 10th then 11th over 2/3 days.

Is this normal, or did we over do it?

Below is the cumulative view of referring domians.

Any help or reassurance anybody can give me here would be much appreciated!

Sounds to me like Google are in the process of banning your site for the high link building

    Sorry, couldn't resist...

Don't worry about it as it is normal for a site to dance around a little as the new links start to come into play.

It will settle down and the best thing you can do is just to ride the wave for a while until it does.... Basically, nothing to worry about.

hahahahaha you just scared me so much giocastagno!!

its the first time ive tried scrapebox and i am obviously a little nervous about it! We have done it all white hat for years, but recently a few of our competitors seem to be ranking higher, with the only difference increases in comment postings (as far as i can see from various tools), although i think they are doing this naturally/manually.

How many days should i leave it for? Ive just got a yahoo directory listing, should I have waited??

There is no need to wait and things will fall into place.

It is harder than most people think to get a site into trouble with google, because if it was easy, people would be getting their comptitors pushed out ;)

There is nothing wrong with waiting a week or two and seeing how things go, and then approaching it from another angle, be it articles (though google hit that a little with it's last update) or social bookmarks, and even a Press Release (done by the right people of course) can help.

It's up to you, though I would wait if you are a little concerned.

If its an established domain I wouldn't worry so much.

Keep building the backlinks - it will take much more to sandbox the site, so much more that you probably don't have the resources for it. Plus it will take time for Google to discover your links.

Just keep building links. Remember to use tiers as well, as it can never hurt strengthening your backlinks further.

If you done that directly to your site then you might of messed everything up.

When Google spots a sudden surge in backlinks leading to your site they think that your up to something and they will look into it and possibly your site may get penalised (De-indexed , Sandboxed etc).

In order to counter that you need to keep the link velocity flowing so that it looks natural to Google. Just keep building links to your site daily and it will all be normal again in a short time :)

There is nothing much to worry about. However focus on link diversity and use scrapebox for the second layer rather than blasting it on your money site. Google has made it very clear that competitors cannot do anything to harm your site's rank. Which means a sudden increase in your backlinks cannot harm your rankings, this might be more to do with you competitors building backlinks and doing other things right for their site. So start working on your backlinks and also on second layer..

You dont have to be scared, i do this every day, i have blasted a list couple a days ago ive got 35k backlinks found after the check, i was on a 5th place for the main keyword, i am now after 5 days on 165th place and it stoped, it is normal, after a week or so you will be back to normal or better then it was before it all depends of the backlinks. :D

Please don't spread this myth.. Google has made it very clear that they won't de-index/sand box a site because of high link velocity.

I would kill all my competition in every niche by just blasting my competitor's sites on adult forums. A very high link velocity might not have the same positive impact as organic link growth, but it will definitely not have any negative effect on one's site.

You never read my post right.

I said that if you send alot of links just once then Google will think whats happening and look into it further and possibly penalise the site.

If you keep sending alot of links daily aka High Link Velocity then its ok..

    :)

surely with hindsight i would have been better to do maybe 500 posts per day (with perhaps 5-10 being picked up per day, after stick rate) for say 2 weeks? as 80 odd links gained per day looks very suspicious?

Doing nothing is not the worst thing you can do, though when optimising a site, there is always something that can be done, be it onsite seo or offsite.

It would be a good idea to keep pushing at a steady rate, though if you didn't Google won't do anything, and either way, you won't get penalised.

Just try diversifying your seo link building, as this will have a positive effect.
