image.jpeg Email scammers are getting real lazy, can't even be bothered to come up with a decent story about a dying mother or tortured military leader these days!!

When you open the attached file ...

Actually it's just half stupid. :) This way the content of the file can avoid the spam filters. In this case, it's a .doc, so i guess there is a story and a link, which posted normally would have triggered the spam filters. But it's only a half solution, if any at all. If there's no content in the message body, the email will end up in the spam almost without fail.

Or the attached file can be infected, so if someone follow their CTA, he/she gets infected.

Or i just give too much credit to them. lol

You're telling me people just don't randomly send strangers millions of dollars?
Well that might explain why all that people I sent money to through Western Union never sent my millions, I thought they just forgot or that the money I sent wasn't enough for the fees.
Sending millions must be expensive you know.

The scammer is retarded enough to think people will click on it too lol
People probably will.

This is what I love about IM, it forces you to abandon biases.

You'd be surprised what people would click on.

For reflection, consider that probably $100s of millions of dollars at least are made every year globally using basic chatbots (no AI; trigger based or scripts) with a profile pic of some random girl and bullshit surveys that take 5-20 minutes to complete.

Also consider that "granny makes $10,327.38/month" adverts still exist. (they cost money, so you can bet they wouldn't still exist if they weren't profitable)
