The user "mrknowit." I just had one of the worst experines ever with a user from here. A week or so ago, someone PM'd me wit a coding project for me. It seemed legit, so I figured I would go ahead and do it. Well, once I finished the project, he told me he wanted to be my partner, and we both sell the bot. I told him that I wasn't interested, but eventually I decided that I would give it a try. Well, we tried it for about 1 day but then I realized that he is getting a deal because I did all of the coding and he wants 50% profits. By the way, we originally agreed on him paying $500 for the project including resale rights, etc. Well, I went through a period for around 3 weeks of every night dealing with him making excuses for why he hasn't paid me. Keep in mind I have not yet sent him anything, so one night we "compromised", and we decided I would send him some instructions on a little bit of the code that I used in my program, and he would pay me, then I would give him source. Well I sent some instructions, and now he has just
kept making excuses as to why he can't pay me. The bottom line is he is a scammer. I did not let him get me(the instructions were no big deal), but he is looking to get whatever he can get it, so watch out.

PS-He was the reason I was banned from here for a day, he told me try a marketing technique on here which was not allowed
so I was banned. I had no idea it was not allowed.

ok he needs to be banned then. but also do not do any dealings with anyone via pm unless they are a trustworthy member here.. a big post count.. and so on. treat users here and on any forum like ebay and the feedback system. if the new member has not many posts dont bother. but if he has alot of posts under his belt then sure go for it. but check out shit before hand if you can. and im sorry to hear this about him. but id contact admin or a mod and get him out of here..

Yes, I am going to contact one ASAP. I also noticed I put this in the wrong forum, so I will get them to take care of that too.

yeh good shout.. keep us informed though.. so is he now selling the product?

Someone should ban this idiot and Dan is right. You should definately use peoples post count and join date as a basis on most of your decisions.

No, he never actually got my product..I was too smart for him, I wasn't going to send it until I got the money, but I send him a little code that he will probably make a product with. He was supposed to send the money after he got the code, but he did not. I knew it was a scam, so I didn't send too much coding..I saw it coming.

He said he got banned for a day - not yesterday...

I was banned permanently, but I PM'd an administrator, and told them everything/exactly what happened, and they let me back. I plan on staying here and being active, so I wasn't about to just stay banned.

That's very sad having scammers around. You really took the right attitude and now, you'll be prepared for others like him :)

Offtopic: You have coded a bot in wich language? And for each purpose? reply here or pm me, thanks. :)

The bot is a views increaser..I was going to sell it all..I am looking for a quick sale so I am willing to sell EVERYTHING(resale rights, source code if wanted) for $250-$300. If not, I will be selling the bot at $50 a piece, and unless anyone buys the rights before essential gets back to me, then I will be posting it in the B/S/T section

I did not even the "Shit List", so I am not sure if it belongs there or not?

No this thread definately belongs in the Lounge. The Shit List is mainly creating awareness against companies, not individuals.

Actually, this does belong in the Shit List:

People and Companies to Stay away from! I've learned the world is full of shitty people, scam artists, crooks, robbers, cyber punks. Report them here so other people don't get taken!

I agree with the above statements, but also remember talk is free, and posts dont cost, so in the end yes its a better guide if someone has a long time membership and 20 billion posts, but in the end its still not a firm method of securing your work.

As a rule of thumb in development, i charge every client 50% up front for the first 3 orders or so, if the client is sketchy they pay 100% upfront. Large projects go to 100% escrow. Its the safest way really, i mean unless you know people personally, your at great risk of loosing out on any upfront work.

Only downside to that method, is clients seem to think they own you if they put their money up like that, it can become a real pain, but your protected. I have been scammed way too many times to let people get the upper hand anymore. The internet will teach you some tough lessons.
