I'm really sorry to hear about your troubles, and really without putting out more money you are going to have to go through the learning process. In a way this is probably better....as you will a better understanding of how they work and you will be able to make changes to them in the future.

Go through the threads in the blogging section, the one at the top that has been stickied is a great resource to many of the good threads on autoblogs.

Sorry to hear about this, I will not tell you how wrong you were but things like this happen, I'm sure now you have learned from this. Unfortunately there are a good number of scam artists around here who pretend to have knowledge, but the truth they don't know shit, they only work hard to get some kind of reputation here to start their scam games.. .

You can do this your self, but you need to learn first how to do it right, there are a number of threads here that guide you step by step but they are either old methods or "incomplete" with all my respect to their owners . Only take basic info don't follow 100%, spend more time learning here, with some knowledge and experience you'll find your self doing it in certain level .
