He told me he would return my money asap... all he had to do was to take 2 minutes and return it via paypal. I don't think it strange, Moto801, the scammer is trying to buy time and hope we all just go away.
Exactly, hes buying time, and also trying to gauge if anyone will get the law involved or not.
I imagine as soon as the law gets involved, money will be returned instantly, but without it, you can almost certainly kiss your dough goodbye.

I just cant for the life of me understand why you guys didnt refuse to send money until you had a + feedback, or the customer confirming they had recieved the item.
Surely alarm bells must have been ringing when he said he needed the money right away?

No its not at all, its just common sense, people were reckless and that's how the scam worked.
If people had just exercised a little caution, requested a tracking number, or waited until client had confirmed item had been received, before sending this jackass the money, then it would never have worked.
Thats not playing monday morning quarterback, thats just pointing out basic flaws in the way people are trading with strangers.

No news on my end... I've asked those that have been ripped to send me any info on him. It appears that he has committed wire fraud which is a Federal Crime and could be serious if he is convicted especially if he has done it several times as it seems he has.
Based upon all of he claims in this thread, if he is convicted, he is looking at no less that 20 years in a Federal prison. He'll be having sex with gang members on a regular basis... probably against his will.

you know, i still don't understand why people scam others, If you have something good, a service or business, then you can make a good long term income like BassTracker, its a complete waste of time to steal money from others.

The guy says he'll refund your money asap 4 days ago and then disappears again?
He's about to have to interview with the FBI, get arrested by the US Marshalls and have to face Federal charges... your idea that he is "away for a while" is not even remotely accurate in this situation.

This guy is a scammer and will face Federal charges... it is rare that when you steal from someone that is a retired law enforcement officer that you get away with your scheme.
Perhaps you should just stand down and let the ones that have a handle on the legal process in a situation like this take care of things.

You really have to learn the guy you JV with. I have some that email me several times a day and I have others that will email once a day and then leave for a week. You learn their habits and start to learn what is common and what isn't. If they guy that emails several times a day goes away for one week, I start to worry.

I feel for those of you who have been scammed by this guy, the simple truth is that unless you take action and get the Law involved you will never see your money. Scammers have no guilty conscience so don't think he will give your money back because he feels bad about what he did.
