Although he wasn't as well known by the general public as many
other famous guitarists, Ronnie Montrose was a GREAT musician
and a dear friend of mine. He played with The Edgar Winter Band
and then later formed his own band called "Montrose".

I knew that he had been struggling with prostate cancer for the
last few years, but yesterday, he lost his battle to that terrible
disease. I will miss his warm personality, friendship and playing.

RIP Brother Ronnie . . . You will not be forgotten

Sorry to hear that Wiz. I was not familiar with him but after watching that impressive performance on the video, I should have been.

I know you'll miss your friend...

He fronted a band called Montrose back in the day and I saw them a couple of times. He was an awesome musician.

He had some really great feel. I'm sure he'll be jamming with the likes of Hendrix and John Bonham.

He's probably in a much better place now; it won't be long before we join him. Earth is like the pit-stop of the universe - we stay temporarily and before we know it, we're on our way again

Extremely sorry for your loss. Im sure he has enjoyed his life, Please enjoy yours also as they say you live once.

I'm sorry for your loss. I'd play you Freebird, but I'd rather they listen to him. He was killer on the axe. Sorry again. :(

That performance was larger than life. He and Satriani sound similar. Go straight to rock n roll heaven Ronnie.

This is depressing in so many ways. First, I'm old enough to remember Montrose and secondly, I lost my own father to prostate cancer. It's an ugly, ugly way to die. This is a reminder to all male BHW members to have a PSA screening and, they don't tell you this, but be sure to refrain from sex two days before your test to ensure an accurate reading. Repeat each year so you have an accurate baseline.

I'm sorry to hear about Ronnie's passing.

I'm sorry to hear that, Wiz. Edgar Winter is a very talented multi-instrumentalist, so I doubt he would have hired Ronnie unless Ronnie were also an extraordinary musician.

I am sorry for your loss Wiz. He was an amazing artist and will be missed but never forgotten.

You're real lucky to have had him as a friend, it's not til you get older that you realize how short times becomes and that you must treasure those around you :)
