Cl.closes its page to personals for good, sorry to all those ewhore junkies making that money one signup at a time...

US Congress just passed HR 1865, "FOSTA", seeking to subject websites to criminal and civil liability when third parties (users) misuse online personals unlawfully.

Any tool or service can be misused. We can't take such risk without jeopardizing all our other services, so we are regretfully taking craigslist personals offline. Hopefully we can bring them back some day.

To the millions of spouses, partners, and couples who met through craigslist, we wish you every happiness!

Backpage is going to have one heck of a monopoly on the personals and escorts game pretty much...

Sad day. Met my share of girls there. Better experience than tinder and mainstream dating apps. Made lots of $$$ too with adult cpa.
I hear cpromarket is where all the traffic is headed.

Wouldn't you just need to make a script to detect and delete posts that seem like it is prostitution?

They already did away w the adult section years ago due to last Congress bill, and backpage followed suit year later due to heavy gov pressure now cl got scared with the new bill and got rid of personals altogether.

Many many years ago I used that section for all kinds of leads, commish, and whatnot to bring in my first coins. Too bad.

But just like the other thread about Amazon crushing toys r us into oblivion either roll with the times of get smushed so be it...

The thing is the way they worded it is that any future victim could sue the platform providers for enabling them being pimped etc...
Easiest solution for them was just to completely remove it to not be liable.

The higher ups just don't want the headache anymore regarding all the bad publicity that comes along with the dark side of that section..

I never used that section, I always assumed it was either a prostitute or someone with an STD.

From a IM perspective it was a gold mine for some. Dating niche, ewhoring, leads, email list, it goes on and on how much some were making with this section.

I have old IM war stories on CL from.over 10 years ago made lots of money with that one site and sad to see that section go. It was always a great section for newbies looking to make their first buck w dating cpa offers.

This legislation applies for every US site with such section, so others may follow the CL example.

The platform being liable for misuse by users - it that limited to dating only? I was thinking about fb and rumors. Am i missing something here? Whats the scope of the bill? Cause this might make marketplaces difficult to operate.

Sex Trafficking its limited to.

This suck especially for me since i am new in the game and easy revenue for a beginner is ALWAYS great. But as the saying goes when one door closes another one opens. Im sure with all the bright minds around here someone will find the silver lining and make this loss a gain.

Back page will get a tab more popular. I don't doubt someone will be making a niche site just for personals and spread it's link

where have you been, backpage shut down last month.
there's dozens (last i looked some sexworker compiled a list of 60+) imitators floating around now. too bad none of them have a significant userbase. give it few more months before community settles on one if any at all.
