Hi all,

By now I have made some posts with possible ideas. I didn't know how to start, so I got rid of them. Instead I thought long and hard about something that I'm familiar with and have a good idea about what my idea would look like.

Professionally, I'm a content writer. I have been writing about insurances, energy and telecom for years now. In the Netherlands (where I'm from), we like to save money on everything. Especially now our government has plans to make daily living even more expensive, many people are looking to find ways to save up on money. I know where to find professional sources with rich information about the topic. Especially because I have a background as a journalist.

Of course a website has to make money. I'm not a charity ;). So, my idea was to place those tips, and advice to compare several companies (for gas, telephone, internet, holidays and so on). On the site I will place tools to compare those companies. These 'comparing tools' are based on affiliate marketing: for anyone who becomes a new customer at the company, I'd get a commission.

It's a total legal thing in the Netherlands. You just have to state on your website what you make money on. As long as you don't advice on financial products (loans, insurances, mortgages and so), you're just fine.

Do you think this is a good idea? Is it worth trying? Maybe some of you have experience?

I'm looking for your reply. Have a great day!

There are a lot of such websites comparing prices and they have existed for over 15 years, at least in my country.

And through them you can get an internet deal or a cheaper phone line because they have special offers through communications companies.

If you can get a unique promotional price for your site then it will be very profitable for you.

Yes, maybe I could get a deal. But I think I should start with for example Daisycon, just to grow a brand.

Never listen to anybody about implement your own idea

Best thing is to try first and see for yourself if it work

Then you come back to here and post tutorial for us

Hard not to agree with both replies on this thread. It seems like something you enjoy/see value in. Why not try it and see what works and what doesn't? If you have an edge that is more than just a typical money saver why not implement it? As long as you're in the legal zone, I don't see the problem besides committing a little bit of time and money. Good luck whatever you decide!
