Save yourself from getting Hacked !! use these plugins

Hey guys,

You must be aware that a lot of blogs are getting hacked these days.

If your blog is a wordpress blog, then you can download these two plugins right away, They can save you from getting hacked.

I am sharing this because my blog was hacked last month, and it created a lot of trouble for me, I do not want it happens with anyone else.

1. Login LockDown :wall: It records the IP address and time stamp of every failed log in attempt. If more than a certain number of attempts are detected within a short period of time (for example 3 ) from the same IP range, then the log in function is disabled for all requests from that range for a particular time(example - 1 day ).
you can set the number of login tries and for how long to disable an IP if there is a failed attempt for say 3 or 5 times

2. AntiVirus for WordPress
This one scans your blog files daily at a particular time and if it finds any thing shady, it sends you an email so that you can take action on it.

Well most of this is common sense. Its nothing new and hopefully everyone should know this already. Just pick a hard password and dont use the same one everywhere and you will be fine.

Dude, it is not just about picking up a hard password, My blog was hacked even though I had a password of 18 characters containing uppercase, lowercase, special character and numeric numbers.

After I restored my blog, I realized the importance of Login lockdown.

This plugin protects you from brute force attacks that hacker use to get to know your password. This plugin blocks them from trying to break into your blog.
 
yup i too had the same experience, login lockdown is pretty useful as it prevents brute force breaking

You're kidding me? It's impossible to brute force this password, lol. Maybe you are infected by a keylogger or trojans in your computer.

Thats what man, Even I was dead sure, no one can do it.

But I gotta hacker friend and when my site got hacked, he was the first person I got hold off, he said, yes brute force can crack a password like that !! Even I was surprised to know about this.. See here at wikipedia, its the combo of keys only (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brute_force_attack)

Thats why I have started using Login lock down. We can disable an IP even for 2 days if the IP tries to make many login attempts

In fact, my hacker friend still says - "Its not a question whether a hacker will be able to hack you/anyone or not, Its a question of when........ lol :saint:

hello! Im totally new to blackhat but Im pretty sure I may like it here, :-) i have a wptheme blog and the slider wont work, i read somewhere else were you charged $10 to help with this issue..can you help! desparate need...:-)

Saving passwords in unsecured FTP client is one of the reasons of blogs getting hacked. If you get a trojan in your computer, the hackers easily can get all your FTP passwords from the unsecured FTP clients.

It had happened with my office computers once. Only the blogs which had passwords in the FTP client were hacked. Switch over to secured FTP clients and never save passwords.
 
I second Sikandar in his post, and concur with Adward. If you know anything about bruteforcing, you'll know how exponentiall longer it takes to bruteforce a password with each letter. Sikandar has the right idea of "hackers" getting blog passwords by other means. If your password is "ags", then you can very well get bruteforced and login lockdown would save you; but the 18 character jumble you described would only be doable by the govt's supercomputers..
 
Why lock the front door when your back door is wide open?
A good hacker will breach serverside, WHM or cpanel and do it in your file manager.
Don't store your passwords there either.

I agree with oxonbeef, though. It's also about making a difficult password. There are so many easy passwords being used out there that if you have even a little bit of complexity, why would they go for yours?

But I agree that it couldn't hurt...

awesome i was just looking for something like this, i have been hacked about 2 times now but some russian dudes.. lol
 
My wordpress blog was hacked once and it was very frustrating. Thanks for the info!
