Save what's important for you in CLOUD / External storage

Two days ago, I accidentally spilled a huge amount of coffee all over my PC.

It got everywhere on the GPU, CPU ... absolutely everywhere. At that moment, I honestly had zero hope left. I was just terrified about my storage. If the HDD was damaged, I would’ve had to refund my client or start the entire project from scratch.

I’d already spent the money, and this was a $12,000 client project I had been working on for 5 months. The release was just one week away, and I was 98% done. The thought of having to redo everything felt like jumping out of the window was the better option.

I shut down the PC immediately, just two seconds after the spill, cleaned everything up, waited 3 days before even considering turning it back on.

And... it magically worked. I honestly prayed twice a day in all possible religions during those 3 days.

So yeah, trust me, if you have something important on your PC, make sure to always back it up externally. Don’t be as reckless as I was.

That's a close call! It’s always a good idea to back up your important data, especially when working on high-stakes projects. Cloud storage or external drives are lifesavers in such situations. Even if your PC survives the spill, you never know when hardware can fail. Better safe than sorry! Glad it worked out for you!

P.S. I use 1TB of cloud storage to store important work-related files. I must upload the remaining imp. files in the cloud soon.
 
Changed my laptop recently.
I just had to run a bash script that install from my backup server all my apps and download all my notes, presentations, code bases, data bases, porn, contacts, preferences, concerts, games ...

The overwhelming feeling of power and control when it runs flawlessly. Felt like my profile picture.
 
Doesn't have to be on the cloud, I have extra hdds laying around. There are even cases that turn them into usb drives if you don't want to stuff them inside your pc and take them out each time. Or if you want to use them with a laptop too.
 
yeah, this is a lesson I still don't learn, a few months ago I just lost not work information but personal information and loot of tools I used most I don't remember but had not affected my work the ones I remember are the ones I still using and is total pain, work or personal info must be saved and backed up always you had a lot of luck backup immediately and hope this doesn't happen to you again.

I really happy to hear it finally working again. this incident is a lesson for all of us, especially for me. btw I work on online sheets etc. no use of device storage. this way i manage the work anywhere in any device.
