Can someone explain the difference between satellite sites (I was told to use "web 2.0 sites") and a personal blog network? I know PBNs involve getting domains for blogs and essentially creating micro-niche sites (please correct me if I'm wrong), but how do they differ from satellite sites?

Basically, can someone please explain what both are? I have a feeling I'm completely misunderstanding the concept of one or both. :o

Thanks for your help!

A private blog network usually consists of at least once domain with decent backlinks that you point to your money site. You should make it relevant to your money site as much as possible. A web 2.0 is a collection of at least 5 free websites builders such as wordpress, blogger, weebly, etc. that point to your money site.

The main difference is that the web 2.0s will have a very powerful domain authority but will have 0 page authority. Your PBN site should have decent DA and PA which makes it more powerful. Web 2.0s are free and can become very powerful if you build tier 2 backlinks to them to increase the PA and pass link juice onto your money site.

Well said!

To add to what's already mentioned, with web 2.0s, you always carry the risk of getting your sites deleted some time, but it can stay alive as long as you treat them nicely. If you try to put spun crap to such sites, they will vanish within few days or weeks.

About PBN, they involve money and you should be willing to get at least 10 sites even to make some difference to your current ranking. But if used wisely, these are the most powerful links out there and are well worth the money spent.

Satellites/Parasites are usually cheaper and more effective due to their existing domain authorities. Go with those that do not use a subdomain.

So would that mean that DA is more important than PA?
