People are using Yandex because they got used to it, but if you take younger generation? who wasn`t there 15years ago. Yandex got more popular than Rambler and Aport- 2 firs SE in Russia, people start using google and it`s a trend. servises provided are high class. google branch in Russia started in 2005. Still can`t put images in my posts but not for long any more.

This is report from "liveinternet" rating and tracking system of russian web space. You can see the actual results. Difference is in the goals wich are chased when we speak of usage of this engines and traffic gained out of it. i want to mention following:imaging you do seo for google for all your life. You know the drill, how everything works and what to expect. imaging a new engine randomly starts and it is not yet popular.(all the inside rules for tracking, linking and raiting are different from what You Know) It will take you a few years to master it. knowing that you can do same results as you have now or maybe better. Will You do it?
That is the reason why 85% of russian traffic is from Yandex if you go for IM. People know well how to get on tops there. Only younger people are starting to rank for Google and it will take time. a Few more years.
There is one thing i can tell for sure for our Russian mentality. If we got used to something and it suits as well-we donˇt want to change it and think that this can last for very long time. what to say, most probably it goes for most part of people on this planet.
So everybody needs to adopt to new conditions. Wasn`t that a rule of IM and any other business? As a tipical example think of "Made for adsense" sites a few years ago and now. But back to the point. Google is getting to the top and the original Sape is getting down slowly day by day. but they do develop new services to do more.
I seriously doubt that Google is going to de-index them all...
