I recently created another thread where I described my current situation with SAPE but the answers where very one sided (this has a reason).

Most people don't use SAPE anymore with good reasons but this is not the topic of this thread. I want to point out though SAPE has still any effect and the best way to use it.

My experience: Exact anchor SAPE links worked until late 2015 (didn't tested it again but I will) perfectly but resulted in a penalty. Currently I'm trying brand only SAPE links to stay longer under the radar but this time things seem to go much slower and I'm not even sure if it even affects my site's rankings. I'm always using hand picked high TF (avg. TF37 and max. TF60) homepage links (also Russian ones). No context (other language, other topic, branded anchor, footer/sidebar link) but high authority.

What I'm asking myelf is: Does SAPE work like in 2015? Do branded SAPE links even work today?

It would be cool if some folks could start a discussion. I would happily participate with my current knowledge.

Well i am talking from experience thats how i know its saturated and exact match in 2016 is a no no.
I'm intrigued. What exactly does the saturation of Sape have to do with the effectiveness of its ranking. It is over used. Big deal. You can still use it to rank websites, exact match or not.

That's what I meant. Good to hear.

Would you tell me the average time until branded SAPE links take in effect from your experience?
I'm waiting since 2 and a half weeks now and only a few google spot #3, #4 tests (without big traffic impact) but nothing major. With exact match links last year my site jumped into top 5 while I was drip feeding the links.

I use Sape along with many other BH methods. It is hard to say, but it is clear they still have an impact. I would not go down the lines of a brand new website, throw 500 Sape links at it and hope.
