I have a one year old website that is on 2nd and 3rd page for some heavy buyer intent keywords. I have already built so many PBN links, PR, web 2.0 and stuff. Onpage seo optimization done too, now thinking to go for direct sape links.

What do you guys think?

The site is not old. I would wait for a while.
But if you really want to try, take a soft-start.
