First of all I don't even know how to say this...

A good friend of mine ( a girl ) is volunteer at one orphan kids house . I was today with her and after playing with them for few hours they really smashed my heart . They are all young and so generous and nobody cares about them . I've started a project with my friend and we already started to collect some donations . The lady from there was so embarrased to ask what the kids need , but she said anything that is good welcomed .

I've already talked with the lady from there and she will ask each kid to paint on A4 paper what he/she wants from santa claus .

You won't belive what minor things they want ( notebooks , pencils etc ) and some clothing .

I live in Romania and prices are low here compared to other countrys so each sum of money is welcomed !

Let me know what you think about this ...

About clothes , i'm not talking about adidas , nike or other trademarks . I'm talking about cheap clothes , around 10-15$ for a complete trening ( pants + blouse)

and sorry for my bad english :)

Your english ain't bad.

I'm also starting to think of doing something like your idea here in my country.

Thanks

I'm will waiting for more opinions and see of they are people looking for help other before setting online donations

You need to publish the name of the orphanage and the directors, There has been so many scams over the years, with with the poor orphans getting nothing, and millions going into peoples pockets.

I think you need to post some proof of who you are helping,

I know you want to help, but unfortunately there is a right way and a wrong way to do this.

You also need to set a goal of the amount of money needed,
How many children are we talking about,
You mentioned a figure of $10 to $15 dollars per outfit. The staff are so badly payed that they will be tempted to take these clothes home for their own kids.
As a foreigner it would be easy for me to criticize the staff who do this, but it is understandable from their point of view,

A better Idea is to go to a used clothes store, They have real quality branded clothes and they sell for pennies, The clothes come from the rich countries of Europe,. $60 would have 20 kids dresses like rock stars.

The orphanages are mainly run by registered charities. and they will be more than happy to receive all and any donations

It was very good of you to come with this idea, and I for one will be happy to donate,
provided that you can show everything is above board

Sure i will publish the name of the orphanage

About proof i'm still thinking what is the best way . I was thinking about having logos on santa claus suit or a banner . Anyway each kid will have a photo when reciving their gifts . ( any suggestions are welcome )

About staff from there your very right.

They are 2 lady's and few volonteers ( student girl's) so i dont belive they will take gifts from kids .

Your ideea with second hand clothes isn't bad ideea , but i wanted to buy new clothes and one of the reason is that i recive proof from shop so i can show where money was spended . Most of used clothes stores here don't offer you a proof you buyed from there ( their are doing tax evasion ).

And your right again..

Orphanages are run by registred charities and they do recive any donation , someone donated 1 bag of potatoes today and other food so they take all things

I will try to update this thread :P and once again thanks for your interest
