    Hey there,

Just here to say that sandbox does exist, I helped do some basic off-page seo for my friend. I'm talking bottom-end newbie style SEO and even that caused a sandbox / deindex if you do not believe me then explain this :

Website is a Starcraft 2 coaching website.
I admit the on-page SEO is terrible as they are currently working on a new website (same domain though).

It was rising positions in Google as I was creating backlinks, keyword I am targeting is "Starcraft 2 coaching" <- it has like no competition.

It was position 49 in google then suddenly it was not even in top 1000 search results, how is this possible if sandbox doesn't exist?

Unless you can explain how for a non-competitive keyword it can drop from position 49 to below 1000.

    Find screenshot in attached images.

    Dance until proven otherwise.

Edit to add: on-page SEO is beyond horrible.

Throw the keyword in the title for crying out loud. This is a horrible case study. It proves nothing. I see no reason that page would be ranking for that keyword.

Explain how a dance would affect such an non-competitive search term? Also it has quite a few quality backlinks.

You're telling me G dance will cause it to go from position 49 all the way to below position 1000 even when it has decent back links?

    Edit -
If you read correctly in my thread you would see I already said the on-page SEO is awful.
I also said they are making a new website...

What you are describing has happened to me. It took two months for my site to come back.

Also, redesigning a site can/will cause massive dancing.

It's not about the competitiveness of the keyword, it's about the fact that the site has no business ranking for that keyword. If it's optimized to rank for anything right now, it's "mixed fruit" and it ranks on the first page for that query.

Yeah, I made the comment about dance before i looked at the site. The problem is the on-page factor 100%. I don't care if you have 6 billion PR 10 links, if your page is about shotguns it's not going to rank for the search term "flying pink unicorns".

This isn't a sandbox, Google just doesn't think the site is relevant to the search term "Starcraft 2 Coaching" because it's not.

No changes or edits at all have happened to the website as of yet, it's exactly the same as before. Whilst I agree the on-page SEO is terrible but it still doesn't make sense for the website to go from position 49 all the way down below position 1000, especially when it's ranking for similar keywords on the first / second page .. e.g :

    Starcraft 2 coaching free
    Starcraft 2 free coaching

Those are just going lower in positions but not drastically.

Sacralige then explain to me why it was ranked position 49 in the first place then? I understand if the on-page SEO was fixed and then pinged it would most likely shoot up near the top of google as the competition is very low for the keyword but still, why did it suddenly shoot from 49 to 1000 or lower in position?

darn i thought someone has cracked the myth of sandbox.

thats not proof of sandbox, taht is your assumption. the myth of sandbox still stands.

the site is prolly google dancing. the G algo is more complexed than a woman's mind on the day of her period. no one can figure it out.

Fair enough, when they have made their new website with proper on-page SEO, that will then prove if sandbox exists, correct?

Naturally the site would have to be pinged and would take sometime but still, can it really jump from position 49 to below 1000 and when the other keywords only dropped about 10-20 ranks. ^.^

My best advice would be to continue to building backlinks at a natural rate. It will definitely come out of the sandbox/dance soon.

I suppose that is a good way of looking at it, eventually it has to come out of the dance / sandbox so when it does the more backlinks the better. From what I know though it's far better to have a few, high quality PR's then 1000's of low ones, that is correct right?

    Thanks

You can't judge anything by a 49th result on a non-competitive search term. It could have been a dance, it could be dancing now. Hell if I know, I don't have experience running sites with epic horrible shameful brain exploding bad on-page seo - no offense intended; adjectives for emphasis only.

The fact is, you can't be in any sandbox because you're currently ranked 9 for "Mixed fruit" - and there are actually a lot of pages on the internet about mixed fruit. You have a page that Google thinks is about mixed fruit. That's the problem.

Ah ok I thought position 49th was fairly reasonable, I know it would generate next to no traffic but I still didn't think it could dance this hugely, I guess it's because I'm new to this and have A LOT to learn, btw about the on-page seo, I completely agree with you, once the new site is made it should be far better but as of the moment I have no control over that :p.

    lmao indeed it is ^^
I just didn't realize position 49 can drop by so much is all. I know it's not great but didn't realize it can still do that.

When the new website has been made with actual on-page SEO then we shall see :p.

I say dance... I'm almost positive you will be ranking higher than before on that keyword in the following few days.
