Hi guys,

In your experience will having multiple sites targeting the same keywords, but with different content (not spun), on the same IP, incur a penalty?

lets just put it this way...you have a few sites targeting the same niche with same keywords but different content, why the hell Google will ban you for ranking few sites?Doesn't make sense at all...

Is like you open more branches and targeting same customers. If you do interlinking between these sites (same IP) then you MIGHT get penalized.

I was actually thinking of long tail keywords...

eg. "XYZ widget product review", and every site containing my amazon affiliate link.

Or is their absolutely no difference between how long tail keywords are treated vs normal keywords?

1)Is your long tail keyword worth for you to rank a few sites targeting this keyword?
2) i dont really understand what you mean by no different between long tail vs normal. I wont specifically target long tail keyword because i will target keywords which is high volume(i dont care if it's long tail/short tail).

Any keyword is good if you know how to rank and of course if you have the budget as well.

OR

Target lots of long tail keyword with different page
Reason:
1) Long tail is easier to rank
2) You get traffic though

I hope so.

What I meant was;:

Regarding what you said, that google won't care about the same webmaster targeting the same keywords with different content. Does the same apply to long tail keywords?

Yeah, that's my plan.

If you're able to corner a market that's great.
If your niche is BlueDiamondWidgets and you have 2 sites such as BlueDiamondWidgets .com and BlueDiamondWidgetsReviews .com and you're able to get both on page 1, you're going to have a better success than just having 1 site there.

Use different themes, layouts, structures for the readers benefit as opposed to Googles benefit.

Awesome.

Thanks for your help man.

I was worried that google would penalize one webmaster trying to dominate a long tail keyword, now I'm not.

Of course not, as a matter of fact, that can be a good strategy in getting your target traffic

Edit: Chances are great if you will just use a proper SEO and of course you need to work it hard. Goodluck!

No it's fine. Only problem is if you create 10 sites on the same ip and all 10 sites point to the same site. Then you can be penalized for trying to fool search engines. Since its all coming from the same ip it's bloody obvious you are. Make sure it's great content and not spun. It would be quite difficult to create 20+ articles on the same thing and make them all very different if your writing them all yourself. That means have 20 different writing styles and the way you get your point across as to not pull a flag on spun content. Also to make it not come across like a bunch of random writing..

PBN's are the same thing - same or similiar niches sharing links here and there point is there not on the same IP and they come from a range of sites (free and self hosted) and a range of IP Blocks.
