Because they don't have the same human rights as you, the parades etc. are for creating awareness. I'm gay and I'm not a fan of parades and all that gaylordness, but I see the actual value in it, the masses will likely accept that we cannot be all the same, just like they did with blacks, women or every imaginable minority, of course haters will never disappear and radical governments can revert people's minds back to the dark ages, but there is a growing tendency of acceptance.
I don't think of marriage as being a human right. When I say this, I mean the legal institution of marriage. Being with the person you love should not be touched by any law except those requiring consenting adults.
lsmstd, are you really asking for and prepared to be treated like blacks and women in modern society? Does that seem at all appealing?
To use those two groups as examples: We have now brand new ways to discriminate against black people based on rap music and women objectifying themselves after their great-grandmothers won them their rights. How do you see gay culture "identifying" itself stereotypically, and overcoming it, in the way black culture and feminist culture are struggling with rap and slut-feminism?
@Dagreyon - :\ the laws aren't being passed because of bleeding hearts. They're being passed to stop gay people from parading, to increase tax revenue, and to get them to stop dating around and "fagging" the place up. This was the same issue with allowing other minority groups rights: get them to shut up, pay up, and straighten up.
There should be no scientific experiments, no space exploration, no tax return for you, no new law defending your rights as a human and not a single step forward or change because people are dying in Africa. Think harder.
Also we should ban couples from marriage if they cannot have babies because they are not useful for the survival of our race.

Have you noticed the gay issue only gets moved forward when more important matters at hand, affecting global stability, are being ignored?
Everyone, except the hateful and backward, realize that people are people and love is love. Marriage as straight people know it will never be harmed by gay people getting married, which is why I never had a problem with the idea, but I am against forcing religious places to have to hold services for a gay marriage, just as I'm against a religion being forced to hold another religions' services in their own place of worship. I haven't seen many Bar Mitzvahs in Hindu Temples. But why not? Is that discriminatory too?
I have never understood why a legal union type deal, not called a marriage, but completely respected in the same way by the law, is not acceptable by the gay community.
And Yes, we need to seriously reconsider who gets to reproduce, yes, without a doubt. And we already do in very real ways.
Because it is true, women rarely cheat and if when they do its because the man wasn't loving her enough. So its still the mans fault for the divorce not the womans.
Contrary to horny popular belief, men are not biologically built to cheat to increase reproductive success, but women are. Women are the cheaters in the wild, not men. Men just spread seeds in different fields and smile at the growth, women are the ones who are constantly changing their hormonal balances, and with them, their appetites and desires. Women will change what kind of man they want based on the time of year, a man does not do this. A woman requires much more self-control than a man to not cheat, regardless of how sweet or innocent they appear.
This reality that men are open, chill, and confident with reproduction is why it is Bros before Hos: You can always find another girl, you're built for it, and if your girl is giving problems, think SERIOUSLY as to why that is. She always thinks you're cheating, or with other girls when you're out with the guys. Is she just innocent and worried?
NO. She's a woman, she's trying to make sure she has dominated you, as is her nature. This why women will rarely allow their girlfriends to be alone with their boyfriend. It's not him she's worried about...
A man who cheats isn't a man, because he wasn't a man enough to find the women he wouldn't cheat on. A man with multiple women is not a cheater tho, unless he commits to one and breaks that commitment. It's simple, really: The things that make you feel like you're all powerful and can do whatever you want are the things that make you a complete bitch in the eyes of masculinity itself. Genghis Khan was a cunt(edit: sensitivity...but i seriously never use that other word to describe gay people. ever.).
