Same Sex marriages are less likely to end in divorce then hetreosexual marriages, that with a fact 5-7% of the population is gay and then factor in ones that aren't going to get married due to be under the age of 18, being single, etc. It shouldn't cause all but a very tiny increase in total number of divorces.

I totally agree with this! That type of lifestyle is a choice in my opinion and people are free to choose. A child raised in that environment may not feel they have such choices and may feel forced to live such a lifestyle although it feels alien and unatural to them.

I do not condone homosexuality or same sex marriage, but I do say live and let live as long as it does not affect me and mine. My stepson is gay and I love him the same as I always have.... even though I don't think it is right.

Talk about SCOTUS and news in general being desperate to get away from important issues.

I think I heard something about abortions and immigration recently too.

I used to care; I used to debate, I used to think my opinion mattered. Now I don't give a shit. My only concern is what is coming down the pipe when this doesn't satisfy the 5% minority? Because this won't satisfy them.

Just like every other "odd" (not in a negative way but rather in a different way) group of people that don't like to be bullied, stared at, called names, made jokes of, etc. this marriage victory won't change the views of the majority. While lawyers and Politicians can make laws, the people ultimately decide whether they'll follow them or ignore them.

There are tens of thousands of laws in this Country that NOBODY enforces. In our State they made it illegal to throw a cigarette butt out the window of a car 3 years ago. To this day, 1 ticket has been written in the entire State enforcing that law.

So yippee the gays can marry for whatever it's worth to them. Will it bring them the acceptance they desire; probably not. I just hope they don't attack another tradition still looking for acceptance. I'm sure I'll see more tradition erode in my lifetime. It's sad is all.

To those that asked why they had to call it marriage; I think I answered your question.

Now I wish the Federal Government would further trample the sovereignty of the 50 States and make gay marraige legal in all 50 States regardless of what State Congresses vote and regardless of what the State populous wants so the gays and their supporters would just STFU and move on.

I call my GF of 18 years my wife. We wear wedding bands. We're not married. We both came from terrible marriages and like life just the way it is. We enjoy tax benefits and credit benefits by remaining single. We're committed to each other and that's all that matters to us. We both did the marriage thing with previous partners and both got screwed.

Let the other side see that marriage isn't all they thought it was. Wait until one of them is left with a mortgage and mountain of credit card debt created by the other and their rush to the alter will be over. Let them find out about community property and how the law works in marriage and divorce. LMFAO.

Religion is taught, who you love is not. Why not let someone who loves someone else get married, regardless whether it's same sex or different, love is love. It's the super religious Republicans who live by the bible that are/were against it.

Because they don't have the same human rights as you, the parades etc. are for creating awareness.
I'm gay and I'm not a fan of parades and all that gaylordness, but I see the actual value in it, the masses will likely accept that we cannot be all the same, just like they did with blacks, women or every imaginable minority, of course haters will never disappear and radical governments can revert people's minds back to the dark ages, but there is a growing tendency of acceptance.

Marriage isn't bad, its only bad if you make it bad and if you need to sign a pre nup than why get married in the first place. 9999/10000 times its the mans fault in a hetreosexual marriage that causes the divorce. Either he cheats,is too lazy, doesn't give her any attention etc.

IS this the only thing which needs a law to be approved??? I mean the people are dying in africa because they have no food, there is a war going on in so many countries and all the gov. thinks of is to pass the law for gay marriage. And how the human beings will survive because there will be no more babies.

I think it's only passed a vote by the people in just one State so don't start tossing blame.

Laws are created when common sense is ignored. It's been that way and will always be that way. What happens when a middle age 40 year old man falls in love with a 13 year old? Love is still love? Teachers falling in love with students? Toss all the laws about sex?

Many people marry for reason outside of love. In California I know a woman (I used to date) that married a gay guy with HIV just so he could get better medical treatment. You see medical treatment for a single gay man with HIV is much different than medical treatment for a married man with HIV. That woman went through a bad divorce and said what the hell, let me help this guy out. They never lived together but on paper they were married and he probably got an extra 5 years of life because of the treatment he received after he was married. He's gone now and she remarried with 3 beautiful kids. I doubt they even know their Mom was married to a gay man with HIV.

I'm not debating any more because frankly I don't give a shit. I just wish the noise would stop. I'm out.

There should be no scientific experiments, no space exploration, no tax return for you, no new law defending your rights as a human and not a single step forward or change because people are dying in Africa. Think harder.
Also we should ban couples from marriage if they cannot have babies because they are not useful for the survival of our race. )

Really? You're going to use that as a comparison? I take it you're the extremely religious type? There's a reason why these laws are passing in these States, because it makes sense to let someone marry the person they love, whether it be same sex or not.

Because it is true, women rarely cheat and if when they do its because the man wasn't loving her enough. So its still the mans fault for the divorce not the womans.

No law was passed, the Supreme Court ruled 2 laws illegal(one federal law and one state law). The Supreme Court has nothing to do with foreign aid or a war,that is the jobs of the Legislative Branch and the Executive Branch. The States also decide what they allow to be considered marriage, there is no bill in the house or senate about making marriage open to mf/ff/mm couples. But if someone in another state where Same Sex Marriage has been banned, goes to the supreme court it will be struck down in that state as well.

Straight people aren't going to stop having kids because gay people are now able to get married.
