Guys I want to make a thread where we can talk a little bit more about sales. There is one post I always go to when it comes to SEO sales and it's one by Taktical.

Are there any more you can think of or any tips you have when it comes to sales?

Another powerful thing that can help close the sale, besides the very good lines above, is to show case studies of clients that is within/or close to their industry.

For example, I have 2 clients that drastically cut down the size of their sales staff because the leads from Search Engines were streaming in. These are brick and mortar businesses. Even better if you have stats and charts to show your potential clients. I like to use the examples from this 2 clients to other potential brick and mortar clients.

Some of them have come across the sales lines you've mentioned, hence that's why they are open to meeting you. But go the next level and present a case study of a local client from a similar industry (preferably local case study).

Sales depend on the attitude of the salesman, not the attitude of the prospect.

Body language is a form of non-verbal communication, which consists of body posture, gestures, facial expressions, and eye movements. Humans send and interpret such signals almost entirely subconsciously.John Borg attests that human communication consists of 93 percent body language and paralinguistic cues, while only 7% of communication consists of words themselves

I'd say Upsells are the most important bottom line profit increasing for a business. For example, if 1% buy your $100 dollar product and you have an upsell for $300, about 5% of that 1% will buy your upsell.

    10,000 visitors = 100 sales

    100 sales x $100 = $10,000

    100 sales x 5% = 5 sales x $300 = $1,500 extra from the upsell

as a salesperson in the offline world, i must add that a lot of principles apply the same way in both worlds. the best way to succeed in sales is to test, test, test.

the main equation in business never changes:

    leads x conversion = sales

even if you have great conversion, you won't make any sales if you only see 10 prospects. but if you have 10 prospects/day consistently, you'll make a lot of money even with a 4% conversion rate. also lots of leads mean that you can do extensive testing to drive your conversions up. not gonna happen with just 5 people though.

so focus on traffic first, conversions later. just my 2 cents.

Well, actually to me - to close sales, both parties are important.
