Salaries in your country

In Aus 6k gets you to about average. Guess it's time to move.

My point is that working a day job, might be a good start to get some start up capital, but the goal is to create your own business.
I cannot understand these people that work their crappy day jobs for years and complain how shitty their life is.
If you are making $100k per year, you are smart enough and have valuable skillset - you can use that knowledge to create your own company and earn much more. But if you are making 3k per year, you are motivated enough(or at least you should be) to learn, so later you can create your own business.

It is EASY to have a day job, work by the clock and get your paycheck at the end of the month, so thats why people work for decades at company X and when they lost their job, they have very limited skills to offer and are literally fucked. I know a lot of people that are 20-25 years older than me and are working for the same company for 20+ years.

You have to EVOLVE constantly or otherwise you will become "obsolete" and working a day job, doing the same repetitive tasks over and over and over doesn't fit that.

BTW, i am from Bulgaria(and yes it is one of the shitiest countries in European Union, economic wise).
We are famous with our Gypsies, that steal all over the world. And of course bank/credit/debit scams.
Yesterday, it was announced on the news that some bulgarians have stolen $330K+ from a bank account.

I'm not sure about the gypsies, usually it's the Romanians that are associated with them. Nevertheless I totally agree with you on most aspects. Though not everyone can take risks, not everyone is prepared to take risks. Although these people moan about their crappy jobs, they're scared to lose them because they know that it ain't easy to find work. Alright, if you're young and have no one to worry about you can take all sorts of risks, you're free to try most things, but if you've got a family to keep up it's not the same.

Not everyone can start a business, how would that work? If everyone started their own business no one would be successful, there needs to be a market before a business can be started. In some of those countries there is no market because not many people have the money to pay for services available and they do most of the necessities themselves.

Evolution is constant, and if you don't adapt you'll be left behind, that's a fact.

In regards to the $500-$600 for a three member family, although not ideal, there are families of larger sizes on such salaries and they somehow manage to live by.

I'm in China, its a huge country you know.
If you are in countryside, $100 is enough, but if you are in big cities, $1000 is reasonable to survive.
I'm in Shanghai, the price of apartment is $4600/square meter here. It's $ not Chinese Yuan buddies, I didn't type wrong, ppl spend their whole lives of a whole family to buy an apartment here. That's sad.

Well i am hanging between the third and fourth n yeahhhh... I am a proud Indian :)

Motivation is everything and i know pretty well what is to live with $500-$600 per month for the entire family(3 members). The education here is cheap ~$2000-$3000 per year including university fees, food and rent, but it is surviving. Almost every family can afford to educate their child.
When i started my education in computer sciences i knew almost nothing, had no additional money to spare, but i was so motivated and i was learning and learning. I skipped irrelevant classes, actually i skipped most of the classes and dedicated my time in learning programming and trying to sell my skills.

Not everyone can run his own biz bud .. it's not about motivation or hard work only .. just most of the people don't have that kind of thinking. There's also a lot of other factors in life which can't be described in a few words. I'm in the IM for over 12 years and have friends who started about the same time but they quit the IM after some years.. and now working for stupid bosses and they don't have good salary and they work A LOT more lol

I'm also from Bulgaria (it's true that it is one of the shitiest countries in EU).
Not that famous with our Gypsies, but we think we are lol

I am from Romania, our min. salaries is BAD (150-200$) but in most case it's 300-400$ up to 1k maybe 2k?:P

Family is a huge responsibility and a man should start one when he is ready and not before that.
15%-20% of my high school classmates started a familly(a child) when they graduated. How foolish is that ? Of course if you have family you won't be willing to take a lot of risks, because failure is not really an option.
My mother had me in the first year in collage, my father left us few years later, i don't have to say that i had a hard childhood and it was a good thing, it kept me motivated and now i am doing decent and my path is still in the begining.

Agriculture and animal husbandry(not sure if this is the correct word) will never saturate.

What is the point of living this meaningless life, if you are only trying to survive, just to exist ?
I don't care about fancy cars, big mansions, but i do care about freedom and safety and money can buy those.

You think everyone thinks like this when they're young?

That's Eastern Europe. For one it's a good thing, for another not so much. In the Western countries many in their 30's don't have families and not many ever will.

To many people get divorced and what not.

Situations and circumstances change people, they make people stronger. Life is full of factors.

Agriculture and animal husbandry(not sure if this is the correct word) will never saturate.

There are so many things that could be said about this one sentence but I won't bother because it would be too much to explain.

What is the point of living this meaningless life, if you are only trying to survive, just to exist ?

That's subjective. If more people did what they enjoyed in life they would be happy. Money can make things easier and more accessible but it definitely doesn't provide safety.

Perhaps we have different definitions for safety.
What if a person needs an expensive surgery or an organ transplantation.
From time to time i see ads on TV and popular websites, where people are begging for donations to help a relative or a friend, it is very sad.
What if a natural disaster happen and destroys your house/apartment?
You never know when you will need a lot of money to solve a problem.

Income is realative so having e.g. $1000 is a great salary in some countries but terrible in others. The US has a minimum wage from $4-8 or so I've been told, where as the minimum wage in other countries for an adult can be over $20. The grass is not necessarily greener on the other side as well because it also means that bills are higher. My electricity bill in Asia cost me a third or a quarter less than I do over in my own country, and I used electricity more over there to power the air con which was on almost all the time.

That said, money cannot buy happiness. And some people are a slave to money, they don't use it for good or freedom - sometimes it is to do with their own mindset. It's just like the lotto winners - some people can do good with it and set up their family for life while some are down to their last $10 after winning millions. Also reminds me of a story:

There was once a businessman who was sitting by the beach in a small Brazilian village. As he sat, he saw a Brazilian fisherman rowing a small boat towards the shore having caught quite few big fish. The businessman was impressed and asked the fisherman, "How long does it take you to catch so many fish?"
The fisherman replied, "Oh, just a short while."
"Then why don't you stay longer at sea and catch even more?" The businessman was astonished.
"This is enough to feed my whole family," the fisherman said.
The businessman then asked, "So, what do you do for the rest of the day?"
The fisherman replied, "Well, I usually wake up early in the morning, go out to sea and catch a few fish, then go back and play with my kids. In the afternoon, I take a nap with my wife, and evening comes, I join my buddies in the village for a drink — we play guitar, sing and dance throughout the night."

The businessman offered a suggestion to the fisherman. "I am a PhD in business management. I could help you to become a more successful person. From now on, you should spend more time at sea and try to catch as many fish as possible. When you have saved enough money, you could buy a bigger boat and catch even more fish. Soon you will be able to afford to buy more boats, set up your own company, your own production plant for canned food and distribution network. By then, you will have moved out of this village and to Sao Paulo, where you can set up HQ to manage your other branches."

The fisherman continues, "And after that?"
The businessman laughs heartily, "After that, you can live like a king in your own house, and when the time is right, you can go public and float your shares in the Stock Exchange, and you will be rich."
The fisherman asks, "And after that?"
The businessman says, "After that, you can finally retire, you can move to a house by the fishing village, wake up early in the morning, catch a few fish, then return home to play with kids, have a nice afternoon nap with your wife, and when evening comes, you can join your buddies for a drink, play the guitar, sing and dance throughout the night!"
The fisherman was puzzled, "Isn't that what I am doing now?"

In canada I think it is more like.

$1500-2000 - Bad
$3000-3500 - Normal
$4000-5000 - Good
$7000-9000 - Excellent
$10000-12000 - OMG!
$13000-15000 - Holy SHIT!
$15000-20000 - Someone lucky
$20000-300000 - Stop lying!
$300000+ - Bitch please!

And some CEO's here make about 12-30 mill per year.

$7.25 is minimum wage an hour in Indiana, USA. If you work 40 hours a week that equates to around $250 a week after taxes, or $1k a month, $12k a year. I live in ~700 sq ft one bedroom apartment (mid size city) which costs around $500 a month. Tack on electricity, internet, food, gas for vehicle, etc and it rises to expenses of at least $800 or more each month.
