    Hello,

I'm new and this is my first post here on the forums. I've got a couple of sites, (local business directories), and I'd like to increase traffic to them. However, these aren't "throw away" sites for me; they're long term projects, so I don't want to do anything that will cause me trouble with google or the like. Both sites have their own twitter account and a facebook page.

I was thinking of creating a few fictional characters, getting them an email, a facebook account, a twitter account, and signing them up for a few social bookmarking sites. Then of course I'd have them "like" my site, "tweet" it and book mark it.

I'd just like to get a little advice on how much good this will do, and also some ideas about how to keep from getting "caught" Any thoughts on how many of these fictional characters I could safely create in a day. How many of them should add my site as a bookmark, follow it on twitter, or "like" it on facebook on a given day, so I'm looking for suggestions on spacing them out to do it safely.

I'm assuming using different ips would be helpful, and I'm using an ip service, (Hide my Ip), which worked fine for scraping the phone book. I'd appreciate any advice and/or thoughts anyone here might have on this, again with the key word being "safe".

    Thanks,

    Billy
