Well i have had both apple and samsung and here's my conclusion -
If you want to have a phone that's very easy to operate, premium build quality, built for average (wealthy) joe and is very foolproof then go with Apple
If you want to have phone that is technologically more advanced, cheap-feel build quality and needs more brains to operate, then go with Samsung
There's no middle ground here. Both are great phones
