so far im finding best settings are as followed

1 - connections 75, this is because the higher you go the lower
some proxies return in speed value.
2 - time out 45.
3 - adjust multy thread thread harvester proxy retrys 2

Are these settings to harvest proxies?

The new SB proxy interface is really confusing...

What about the optimal settings to test proxies, as I don't harvest proxies with SB, I just test them with it?

I agree, and I saw that if you have too many connections the proxies will return much slower that they are in reality because the resources limitation on the client side

I use 200 connections and sometimes the GUI freezes few seconds.
After checking I have a lot of proxies identified as Slow.

Maybe it would be better to use threads rather that connections for the proxy checker (?).
The expert is Softtouch... ;)

If we dont use proxy for SB blasts what will happen?

If you scrape Google, you will be temporary banned.
If you blast blogs, your IP will be flagged as spammer and will can't post comments on blogs in future.

These settings are optimal for your server's port speed, ram, cpu, may not be the best for others I guess.

these settings are for testing proxies - i only test proxies
for users so im showing whats working best for me so far
based on 10meg cable internet

Otherwise, what tool do you use to harvest proxies.

I'm with Proxy Goblin lately... it normally scrape 50k/60k, but not many google pass...

You can't get over 1k Google Passed proxies via scraping.
To get +2k like Proxygo you'll need to scan IP ranges ; it can be a very long step and you need to have good ranges.

Otherwise, you can use only ScrapeBox to scrape proxies, and ProxyFire to filter (...).
Read old threads by Proxygo, he explains good methods.

cheers koko ive always said the 5k rule applys.
on an average day theres never really anymore than
5k public proxies that u can scrape are alive. usually
3/4k transparent proxies and 1k level 1/2
people who scrape 60k proxies are wasting there time
because 95% of that list will be dead 100%

you might get 1k or so from scraping working on s/box
but thats probably about it. when you start pushing over
2/3k then its into port scanning ip blocks for the extras.
and yeh very time consuming but rewarding

[OFFTOPIC] Soon 3.000 posts, Proxygo' ! Congratulations. [/OFFTOPIC]

See? :) It's getting a lil better. I'm still having nightmares from .39 though...

I've been running 100 connections on tester and having a blast, but I'll check with 75 and see how the success rate increases. Nice of them to remove the Proxy Harvester setting in Maximum Connections on this version, that was confusing me when in conjunction with the connection setting in the harvester.

I'm reluctant to change Timeout just because the amount of slow proxies found to work are so high. But, I'll test.

Scraping has been very nice on pretty much any connection setting, and posting have been fun fun.

Maybe I'm the only one having this problem, but when stopping a large harvest before all connections end using all engines, Yahoo sometimes doesn't end and I had to ctrl-alt-delete. Only qualms now are, as expected, the increased memory load and lower window responsiveness due to all the columns.

Definitely a step in the right direction, though...But I still want to copypaste sources and see speed in ms...

im running v142 on 75 connections . averaging 2k g passed
aprox 2 thirds are fast/medium
and koko 3k posts yeh cheers mate

still finding 70-80 connections
returns faster proxies on a list

what i also learned yesterday is if your running
v 142 on something like 1/3 meg download but using
70+connections you will loose aprox 40% of your list
failed due to lag on the test, had some1 try this and
it is confirmed....

so if u have a small connection 1/3 meg try 30 connections
trust me your pass rate will increase by 30/40% on a proxy test

I run 200 connections on 2~4 mb/s.
I'm not frustrated about the results till now.
