Running a Wordpress Site on Wordpress.Com Host

Are there are any google indexing or ranking advantages to using Wordpress.com as a host for a Wordpress site?

Is anyone using wordpress.com hosting for their e-commerce / money site / ad sense traffic site?

Sites hosted on the WordPress.com subdomain are indexed faster and have a bit of an advantage in the beginning. But getting to page 1 is just as difficult as doing so with your domain name. In the end, any little benefit you get from it is not worth it. WordPress.com can delete your site at any time if you violate their TOS. They also put ads on your site.

Better to buy a hosting account and use your own domain name with a self-hosted installation. No one can delete your site or place ads on it without your permission. You have total control with self-hosted WordPress.

It is totally fine, however it is super hard to customize your site comparing to using normal hosting for sure!

You also cannot use shared plugins and themes on BHW.

Like Jerk55 said, Wordpress can delete your site at literally any time (and if it's a pure moneymaking site I'm not sure they're going to like it).

I recommend you own your business completely instead. Purchase a domain name and some cheap hosting for $10/year to start with.

Self hosting is the best, you can get the most control. Get a server near your audience, this will reduce ping.

Find a host with nginx, it blows apache out of the water.

Thanks for all the replies... i am trying to white / grey hat as much as possible. I dont want to worry about configuring the server and security updates on a self hosted site. so ill stick with wordpress for now and tell you how it goes.
