So I was running a scrapebox session and I have olark setup on my site so I can see the location for people that are browsing pages, but only manually browsing it wont show for robots or anything. I noticed that while I am actually running the scrapebox session I JUST got browsed by someone from Council Bluffs, Iowa....which is a G datacenter. I have blacklists running but will keep you all posted as to the happenings here, I am expecting to see something either pop up in webmaster tools or be de-indexed. I will keep this scrapebox session and see what the results are. Fingers crossed, but I dont know how this could be good. Must have hit a honeypot.

A manual review coming up, the slap is almost here.

what is the nature of your site? authority? micro niche site?

do you rank for highly competitive keywords?

So far no slap, no messages in Webmaster tools, no rank or listing changes. Check from 4 proxies around the US

1, yes it is a local local niche with medium-high competition avg pr5 for first page
2, The site and content are all very legit and unique, no shady on-page what so ever so if they are going to manual review I am fine.
3, I don't think this has to do with manual review, I think they have a honeypot set out which wasn't in my blacklist that tripped them.
4, If this is true, the implications would be HUGE
5, They could have an algo checking that is looking at new incoming links/velocity and tripping some programming lines.

What the net effect of this is I am uncertain of but will update. Please if you are getting ready to run ANY update on your site install a 3rd party like olark free and monitor the traffic during your session. Save all logs for us to go over post-hoc.

We need to look for replication so anyone getting the SB out please monitor this, if there is anything that is being tripped as a hardline in their algo knowing this upfront would be very beneficial

Some stats on the SB project I was running,

i think you are paranoid,i just searched for that towns as i never heard of it and it has a population of 62k
btw,if you use wordpress install the wassup plugin, you can see who and from where browse your site incl. spiders real time

OF COURSE I am paranoid! It's a very good characteristic for someone that likes details to fit into big pictures, talking about $$$ on the line here. Second, I think you are INATTENTIVE and pejorative. Why? well you seem to have managed to search for "council bluffs iowa" but couldn't quite ekk out "council bluffs iowa google" Give that a shot hotrod and you will see why I think your a bit on the sloppy side with your initial assessment...

Just ran a rank check and dropped 14 places in G. No changes have been made onsite. The SB I ran resulted in 20 successful posts with backlinks to inner pages only, and using faked names and generics for anchors only. I have been seeing a lot of jitter the past few days in other sites so I will let this site sit tight for a week before drawing any conclusions.

your site was probably being crawled by the google bot...google visits my site up to ten times per day as my blog is consistently being updated...

i could be wrong, but this is the MOST LIKELY EXPLANATION...again, i could be wrong, but consider what is most likely...

remember, a google data center has very few employees...i believe the apple data center in North Carolina, which is apple's biggest data center only has 50 employees...

This could be the case, however I have olark installed on several other sites and it doesnt report the googlebot crawls as browser traffic. If fact the ref agent shows as follows:

| 1 pages viewed
| first visit
| using Chrome 5.0.307 on Linux
| 209.85.224.84

I checked my logs and I do get crawled by googlebot and lots of other bots, yet it identifies as ref googlebot, not an old version of chrome running on a linux platform. This is why I like to have olark up cause it only shows info from known human browsers agents. I am just trying to get more information, which has been doing good for me so far in life. Starting to feel like they might have a more "human" component involved if you hit a site they own/log with spam which could trigger a manual review.

Can SB do a massive whois off a list?

The googlebot visits in the chrome browser and from the linux platform. I know this as this is how I see it when I get visited by google.

I really wouldn't worry about it, what if it is, then what? There is nothing you can do so wait and see what happens...

Figured it out. When you are logged into Webmaster tools and run an "instant preview" the preview is generated from the Iowa datacenter. However the version that fetches looks to be version 12 on Linux. I think we could figure out which versions are used, what service they are derived from, and what locations they are inbound from. I could see a few immediate uses for this information. I will keep updating but looks like my SB activity didnt trigger this, rather it was WMT

Well google bots also visiting sites with executing javascript. That is how they are having more information about your site.

god forbid someone from that area actually visits your site and isnt a google employee
