RSS Feeds

How to make/get RSS feeds of the articles posted on article directories/blogs and where to post them. The whole process of RSS and pinging is not clear, could you please explain.

I had a similar question. Not to hijack a thread but no need to start another. My question is for micro niche sites. I am about to start building micro niche sites. Is it even worth it to deal with RSS? Who would want to subscribe to a micro blog with a short article and affiliate link? This ebook i'm reading is talking about using them. I'm just not getting it.

I understand how they work somewhat just don't see the point for a micro blog.
