Was thinking -
what if I had virtual box/ vmware on a spare pc(s) ,
and i installed a shitload of tiny linux distros each running squid proxy .
say 10-20 per machine . could i use these virtual machine proxies ips for my own personal proxy service ?
Im going to ask the BHW ; is this how the big guys do it ?
Im running behind a res gateway and have a hostgator acct .
I just need to know is it possible ? anyone have experience with this ?

no, because you have to have 10-20 ips on your main machine. Otherwise all your VMwares will exit to the internet with the same IP

What he said, all your machines will have a different ip in your subnet, but for the outside world they'll all have the same ip.

what about if i have a bunch of usb ethernet cards , wouldnt that be a unique ip per nic ?

darn
so , how exactly do you make proxy farms

sooo . where does one procure such a server so configured ?
