ROI Calculator For PPC vs SEO

I'm continuing the calculations of utterlyadrift25 from Takticals thread on page 15 (can't post links yet)

Attached to this post is an Excel Speadsheet that automates the calculations from the post above. Unfortunately I'm not that experienced with making excel documents look all pretty and neat.

The blue cells are input fields while the red cells are the outputs.

This can be used to help convince potential offline clients of the benifits in conducting a proper SEO campaign even when PPC can produce faster results.

If anyone has any recommendations for this spreadsheet or finds an error with the calculations please let me know.

Good job Dr_scythe. The only thing is that remember that CTR is not always 0.1 and conversion rate is not always 0.12. So when calculating for a client be sure to work out what the proper ones if you have the data available.

Why have I been neg rep'd when Dr_Scythe has used my own calculation in his Excel sheet? Isn't that a little ridiculous?

Yea I put the CR and CTR as global parameters that are changeable based on the client.

Seeing as I have Excel 2003, this is what I get when I attempt to open the file:

Is this how it's supposed to look..and would I be suspect to losing any functionality?

The only functionality that should have been lost by opening in 2003 should be the coloured cells.

You should still be able to use the mathematical components of the spreadsheet by changing the values in the global parameters and the individual parameters for PPC and SEO at the top of each sections. The bottom numbers should adjust accordingly.

The colours were just there to help identify inputs from outputs...

No problem H2oBoy.

If anyone is any good with making excel documents look really fancy I'd be interested in seeing what they can do with document.

If it looked good enough I'd probably bust this out live in a meeting on a laptop and do the calculations live with them. Would be a pretty good selling point imo.

Feel free to have a go editing my file just be sure to share it back with the rest of us when you're done!

salhammers has helped me add a pie chart to the Document. Big thanks to him.

Originally he added all the stats to a single chart for PPC & SEO.

I've modified his work again to just show the revenue splits for PPC vs SEO.

The chart shows the total revenue split into cost and profit. A very Visual way to really emphasize how much better SEO is.

I'm thinking the main thing that needs to be improved now is just the colours.

New file is attached to this post but I'll update the original post as well. EDIT: I don't have an edit button for my original post? How strange....
