Road to IM, eCommerce, SEO & Other stuff

Started a new ad now. Exactly the same, but for conversions instead of PPE boost.

Changes:
$10 daily budget instead of $5
'Engagement' changed to 'Conversions'

Let's see what happens.

Are you using the facebook pixel with shopify?
Yes correct, I have a Facebook pixel installed on my Shopify.

This is how my ads look at the moment:

Old ad is for Post Engagement and the new one is Purchase (Conversion).

I think you will need more than that to be honest.

Domain - $10
Shopify plan (after 30 day trial) - $29
FB ad budget: Well, $100+ I'd say, at least (Some people suggest $1000+)

But sure, you might be able to if you get a $1 domain and get sales before the trial is over.

Read all the guides you can find on FB ads/targeting. Search here and google, watch YT videos, check the download section here and so on. Study it.

I'm sure I will lose some more money before things start to go smooth. My ad has already stopped getting sales, one day I get $100+ and the next $10.

Good luck mate

FB Ads Update:

First day: $5 spent - $108.50 in sales
Second day: $5 spent - $15 in sales
Third day: $5 spent - $15 in sales

What the hell happened with my ad? Damn, the first day went so well.

Also cancelled my other ad with $10/day, having 2 ads for the same post might screw things up. And the same audience, nah fuck it.

Will start new ad sets soon. I want to run around 3 ads at the same time with different targeting, I have spent a long time now deep diving into some new and different audiences. I have also designed some new images for ads that might be even better.

So my post boost with targeted audience is now finished.
Results

Duration:
4 days
Budget: $20 ($5/day)

Results:
8 Sales - 165 USD
$95 profit, minus $20 for ads = $75 profit.

(I also had an organic sale from Instagram for a higher priced product, but I excluded it in the numbers above since it has nothing to do with the ad)

I have also boosted another post.
Why am I boosting? Well, it worked, so I am doing it again.

What I have done differently:
  • Changed price for the product I am advertising from $15 to $20.
  • New ad image, took a few hours in PS but should be engaging.
  • Few changes on website checkout to push people a bit better + abandoned cart tab flash
  • New bigger audience

Duration: 3 Days
Budget: $15 ($5/day)

Lets see if it works again. Will probably run my old audience again since it went +.

God I love this, let's hope it keeps working well.

EDIT:
Went over 4 different audiences and did some more Audience Insights. I came up with yet another audience which I think could be really good. Tweaked from the original.

Just did another post boost with that audience, $25 budget ($5 day for 5 days).

So, two post boosts live.

Stopped both post boosts, broke even with 1 sale.

I saw that you can target your post boosts for web clicks instead of engagement if you upload a carousel post instead of normal picture post, so I did that and cancelled my other two boosts since they're optimised for PPE. Will be using 100% carousel (or video) from now on.

New post boost has the same audience as my first ad, but this time it's carousel & optimised for website clicks. Let's see how it goes!

Boost just got approved 20min ago.. Had to appeal it to be approved.

Green - Position
Blue - Clicks

Moving the right way.

Thanks!

I'm not sure if service site is the correct phrase, but something to that affect. I will not say anything else about it for the moment, but perhaps in the future. I need to find the correct marketing plan.

I can say this though:
  • It's comparable to creating websites for clients, but more complex.
  • I have noticed that my (few) competitors that sell the same "service" charge ca $3.000-$11.000 per sale. I charge less. I actually got threatened by another competitor for selling my services TOO CHEAP! He wanted me to charge more. Quite bizarre.
  • Competitor admitted to selling 4-6 of the "services" A WEEK, which is very interesting. He might be lying, but I'm quite sure he's making some sweet $!
My issue: No idea where he gets his traffic from. Possibly Google Ads.

I will see how the "digital service site" goes with some paid ads. If it works, I'll keep it. If it seems like an endless ad money pit I will terminate the whole thing. I will make my research for the best target market first.

TO DO LIST:
  • Investing in 500+ press releases (CNN, FOX, whatever) for my eCommerce
  • Buying audience for my eCommerce FB + Insta (Followers, likes ETC. Will look more legit)
  • Investing in some other SEO for eCommerce
  • LEARN FB ADS & do $5 test runs
  • Test ads for "service site", however not my #1 priority right now as it might be a loss. Hmm.
Let's see what happens. One day at a time.

WHAT KEEPS YOU IN SUCH POSITIONS IS A FEAR OF HAVING TO SINK OR SWIM ON YOUR OWN. INSTEAD YOU SHOULD HAVE A GREATER FEAR OF WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO YOU IF YOU REMAIN DEPENDENT ON OTHERS FOR POWER. YOUR GOAL IN EVERY MANEUVER IN LIFE MUST BE OWNERSHIP, WORKING THE CORNER FOR YOURSELF. WHEN IT IS YOURS TO LOSE-YOU ARE MORE MOTIVATED, MORE CREATIVE, MORE ALIVE. Some day.

Please doubt me! I like motivation
You can do it man!

Great progress till now. It's great that you're trying various techniques and scaling what works.

Hope to see you banking stable $100/day pretty soon.

Thanks guys.

Yeah I didn't want to have all of my eggs in the same basket, so I figured I should learn various things. I hope so too! Would be sweet.

The ad I started yesterday has spent $6 with one sale so far. Not good enough, but I will leave it a while longer.

Hey @tglr, how are you doing? got any updates for us? Hope your projects are doing well!

Hey,

Good thanks! I still have ecommerces and that's still my main money making "method". I hit $2000/week long time ago, then it crashed and burned; then I did it again. Current record is $500/day, but can't seem get past that. Maybe if I did paid traffic too.

I'm currently working on an affiliate site that I want to take from affiliate to ecommerce, where I stock the product myself (no drop shipping). Current goal is to make about $3-4k+/week.

Great achievements! Thanks for the quick update and motivation as I intend to start an e-commerce site myself but completely relying on SEO. Is the 500$/day in sales or profit? and is it organic or through Fb ads?

All my traffic is SEO, I haven't used FB ads in a long time. I plan to use FB again later down the road with the latest site I started. So, the traffic is organic. Yes, profit.

You made my night! Good luck with achieving your next goal. One more thing, could you please link out to some journeys or guides on Ecommerce + SEO here in BHW as I did not find much using the search function?

Glad I could help! I actually did hyperlink to @BassTrackerBoats guide, you might've missed it as I edited my message. Other than that, just learn tons about on-site/page SEO and keyword research.
