Hey there! I'm an Italian designer who specializes in Logo and Brand Design.
In January I've started my own business and, simply put, I fucked up badly.

Now I'm back and ready to start hustling again, so enough bullshit and let's talk about the plan.

What I have:
  • Graphic Design skills (anything from Logo Design to complete Brand identity + a little experience in Web Design
  • 2 Portfolio websites (One has about 800 UV/mo and a Blog section with 12 articles; the other one is better designed and quite new, I plan to switch to the new one completely in the near future)
  • IG Account with about 500 organic followers (no bot)
  • Linkedin profile with a little more than 100 connections
  • Dribbble and Behance accounts

What I plan to do:

  • Send 30/50 mail per day to potential clients (If you have anything useful regarding cold emailing please feel free to let me know in the comments)
  • Grow my newly created Facebook page and use FB Ads to reach potential customers (I'll advertise a case study I'm creating right now, targeting a specific niche)
What I did today:

  • Sent 43 emails
  • Found 25 more potential clients

Usually, I price my services starting from $500 (Logo package) up to $2000 (Complete visual identity) but for this project, I plan on lowering down the prices in the beginning in order to get quick feedback and get more referrals.

I'll update this Journey at least once a week, more if needed.

Big thanks to @jonsnow2019 and his Journey for giving me the motivation I needed to start again.

All info, suggestions, and questions will be appreciated!

Glad to hear someone's hustling. Any potential clients so far?

Good luck my fellow italian friend!

To be honest it will be hard to sell 500$ logos on fb imo, will rather focus on Linkedin where you can find more suitable business with that budget

I don't believe that sending cold emails would be a good strategy.
Maybe you should try Upwork or doing some ppc.
You need to find those already looking for your service if you want to reach a sustainable income.

Looking good, man.

How do you find prospects to email?

Linkedin? Twitter?

Do you target agencies?

Hello there!
A quick recap of the previous week:

Email sent: 180
Answers: 24
Free Logos done: 1 (I'm currently talking with another person who could be the next one)
Earned: $0
Spent:: $0

The Logo I just finished was really appreciated by the client, now I have to ask for her testimonial and referrals (any suggestion on how to do that effectively?)

You're right, and that's why I will ask people to leave a testimonial for my site and an endorsement for LInkedin after every successful project.

I don't like Upwork, been there years ago and made some money but I hate competing on price instead of value. I think that cold emails, even if they require skills and time, are a much better way to build a long-lasting relationship with clients and a reputation outside of a freelancing platform.

I search on Yelp, Instagram, and Facebook for businesses with bad logos, then I create a Google Sheet with names, emails and a short comment for each one. Once I've collected enough, I start emailing them trying not to sound spammy or too sales-y.

This week I hope to find another 1-2 free clients and then I'll start emailing for paid work.
Wish me luck!

I like your strategy for finding prospect clients. I have an idea about targeting the people/businesses who have registered a new domain some days ago (we could find the lists of newly registered domains). So they might need logo design services, web design, social media graphics, marketing, seo, and other services. So we will extract the name, email, phone, from the domain whois and will use this data in our cold emails and cold calling too. You can pm me for more details. Thanks
