Political commentator and Pulitzer Prize winner Charles Krauthammer died today.

Only got introduced to him and his work a couple of years ago but I really liked how he thought and acted in any debate he found himself in. Humble, fair and balanced, and always gentle.

Another great mind has passed away.

Krauthammer seems to be one of the last in the line of gentlemanly conservative commentators (after Bill Buckley, George Will, et al) who had attained national prominence. As we all may have noticed, cultural intellectual discourse on TV has taken quite a nosedive in the country in the last decade or so, with crude name-calling, insults, profanity and even violent verbal threats against opponents (in both directions) often replacing the 'gentlemanly' approach to exchanging ideas of decades ago. Krauthammer's style will be missed, may he rest in peace.

I didn't even find out he died until I was watching Sean Hannity last night. Very sad.

He was a great journalist...RIP
