RIP Authorship for search results

The whole + platform is clunky...I always felt that people joined it begrudgingly because they hoped to get into Google's good graces.

There is too much noise out there, both clients and SEOs are wasting time trying to tick all the magic boxes. The result is that we dilute our efforts juggling all these things...I've only got so many hours to live, don't waste my time...imagine all the collective hrs put in to the + platform that were not able to be spent with friends and family.

Good riddance to this 'flavour of the month'!

It was great while it was going on. Implemented google plus and had great conversion rates

The search engine makes changes based on what will make their results most relevant to their users, not what makes webmasters the most money.

I would change that to say, "Search engines make changes based on what will make them more money."

I think authorship detracted surfers from clicking on adwords links.

First the drastically cut division resources for G+ in April and now this. Man, this looks like G+ get less and less power for every day. I for one can't wait for Google to drop Google+ all togheter, and by this news it seems to be sooner than later. :clap2:

never spent one minute on authorship as I just saw it as a massive info collection service for g, they have their info,, they now ditched it.

I am going to have to call bullshit. I 100% saw an increase in clicks from author images in the serps.

They got rid of it because it was distracting from the ads they get paid from.
