"According to a new report from Reuters, Google is assembling a retail superteam that will see a number of large retailers index their listings on Google search for the world to find.

The official line isn't that this is Google continuing its stupid feud with Amazon, nor is it doing it out of the goodness of its own heart. Any retailers involved will likely get increased exposure in search rankings and on Google Home devices that can help generate sales, and for being so helpful Google will get a cut of those sales. The fact that it's going to be helping someone compete with Amazon is just an added bonus that benefits both sides of the deal."

Well this is going to kill a lot of us Amazon affiliates, just when I was getting decent ranking and sales :mad:

We keep hearing RIP SEO, RIP Facebook, SEO is dead, RIP et al. Truth is, change is the only constant thing. I don't think this will bring about the 'RIP AMAZON AFFILIATES'.
When amazon change their %, a lot of people where "RIP Amazon affiliates"/
So basically, other websites that promote products from other network are dead also?

Well, until amazon close their affiliate program, i don't think it is dead.

Dead in the sense that if the SERPS are flooded with products sold directly by companies which are weighted to rank as Google is taking a cut. Amazon affiliates are dead.
 
Amazon affiliate sites are based around "best product" and "product review" mostly and I do not see how that change affects these search queries.

Notging is dead. When people are doing research, they read multiple sources, as simple as that.

Doesn't seem like this would affect Amazon affiliate keywords much at all unless I misunderstood the article, "where to buy an electric shaver" isn't a good SEO affiliate keyword
 
its just return as possible term which is RIP so just go try something different and never go to amazon aff
 
I don't think this will affect Amazon Affiliates
.. Most Amazon keyworda are: Best X Products and Product X review.

They can't do anything towards Best X Products.

The user is searching for a list for the best wireless routers.. Google have to show results for the user intent.

The answer for this query should be a list for the best wireless products.

That's completely different from the example in the article if I'm not mistaken "where to buy a wireless router" in this case only Google can show some markets..etc

And for Product X reviews.. they won't do something about it.

This is a very close minded view of Amazon affiliate, website that brings value to their readers will continue to generate a lot of profit but the spamy ones are going to suffer.

That's a distinct possibility. They just might.
Don't forget that bing has been waiting quietly for an opportunity to take a bite at google's market-share.
 
Been hearing these things since many years. I believe nothing is dead until removed by the website itself
 
I don't buy it. Not everyone wants to buy their stuff directly from Google. Still a huge market for people looking at reviews, blogs, etc. before buying.
