on google places listings you sometimes see “reviews from the web”.

As I understand it, this will pick up reviews from services like Facebook but also it sometimes picks up reviews direct from the company website.

I believe it requires reviews to be in rich snippet format.

Just wondering if anyone has had reviews from their site picked up by google places, and if so what plugin did you use for these reviews?

This is what I am talking about - if you look up the company in the screenshot on Google, you will see that their own website shows up under "reviews from the web" -

You have to link it up together.

First you implement the Google rich snippet, and then you can link it up to other rating platforms. Trustpilot etc. But I know with Trustpilot for them to link up with Google rich snippet, you need to pay for their service. And you need 100+ reviews in the last x months to qualify for it to link up.

You don't really need to install any plugin to be installed. It is picked by Google itself as long as your NAP data is accurate. I know it for a reason as my digital marketing agency's google page shows the same.

Thanks. Is there any documentation on that? Or any examples that you know of? I am considering the trust pilot paid plan, but when I just spoke to them, they said they don't support integration with Google reviews from the web.

Thanks. I think perhaps my setup is just not correct and so they're not currently being picked up. Maybe its because I have reviews only and I don't have a star rating. That's why I am thinking about a plugin just for ease of use more than anything else.

I really want to get the setup correct and the important parts are making it super easy for everyone to leave a review and then for those reviews to be picked up by Google and hopefully in turn that will push up my Google local listings.

No not with trustpilot it is hard to get out of them. It's around 1 year ago I worked with their service. The there was a option to integrate it with google richt snippet.
If you Google "Google richt snippet trustpilot" there will come some information up.

Also the prices. But we manged to get a good price think we got around 30% off their cheapes product. So if you talk to them you can reduce the price.

Interesting thread. I am sure I have heard about on-site review spamming with rich snippets before. If your assumptions are true (that these are rich snippets), then google isn't that smart indeed lol. Will be watching this thread. :D

Ok, I found an alternative to trustpilot - reviews.co
It’s a 5th of the price and it definitely supports google local “reviews from the web”. Think I’ll go with that.

Still waiting to find a plug-in for WP that supports rich snippet reviews though.

One more update - Google my business listing has now picked up 3 locations for reviews - my own business website, facebook and reviews.co.uk.

Currently I am 2nd and 3rd in the local pack for my two target terms respectively. Will wait and see if the above changes have any positive impact on that. Fingers crossed.

Quick question; What review funnel did you approach ? Buy from members here or data from real customers.

I'm feeding in data from real customers so I don't really need to buy reviews. That would be another way to go of course. But the important things for me were a) making it really easy for customers to leave a review (So that I can get as many coming in as possible) and b) having those reviews picked up by Google; in the hope that it will improve my local pack positions.
