I am using W3 Total Cache for my site. Everything is fine except the Minify settings. My site CSS just breaks as soon as I activate "Rewrite URL structure".

    Please help someone.

I like to use this instead of w3, for the minifying side of things: https://wordpress.org/plugins/speed-booster-pack/

It differs from site to site. If it doesn't work on yours, just disable it and try something else.

I use WP Super Cache and Speed Booster Pack. W3TC seems to make the CPU usage on the server my site is on spike up. I guess it depends on the hosting environment.

In the end its all about how fast is your hosting, if your hosting sucks nothing will help you.

Depends on your site OP but minifying can make things worst. Saving few kilobyte by minifying can make your site load slower which is bad for your visitors. If you are doing it to reach 100/100 page speed score or 100% gtmetrix score forget it.

I am using iPage shared hosting. Should I now consider upgrading the hosting to wordpress essential?
